Do we really have no offensive solution for a 3-man rush?

As bad as our line is, how could we not dial up plays to run on that? I imagine Nuss could have rolled out and taken off on many of those? Why did we just keep forcing throws into that level of coverage? I’m so confused.

How many a defense rushes the passer with has nothing to do with how hard it is to run on them. They could have 8 in the box and only rush three.

We needed to bring a 6th man in to help block

If MVB was the QB, then he would have made OM pay for that three man front. He would have run on it all night and made them change their defense.

In those cases, couldn't we go 5 wide with a dump off routes if they send guys, delay a draw, or have a QB who will run when the guys in the box bail, or run some jet sweeps (just not to the short side of the field)?

Not with the idiot we have running our offense. And the bigger idiot that put him there.

We honestly should have tried Van Buren just to give them a different look. A running qb would have kept them honest

Heatwave; we did, the RB stayed in several times and we still could not protect Nuss. Bad line play, bad scheme, bad play calls, bad QB decisions and bad execution.
All that bad and the coaches could not find a solution.

Time to hand over the keys to Atkins. The lack of a running game vs a 3 man front was criminal

1. 5 wide will work against an 8 man zone if the QB has enough time. Ours doesn’t

2. They are not sending guys because they are getting there with a three man rush.

3. Our QB can’t run.

4. We could run jet sweeps. Maybe they’d work. But the one thing we are already having success with is the flare to the WR getting to the outside. It’s like a jet sweeps with a long handoff.

I’ve been watching football for almost 60 years, and I’ve never seen a scheme work when your offensive line is being dominated by three linemen. Maybe Mike Leach’s Air Raid would give you a chance?

them getting pressure and disrupting our Mickey Mouse offense with 3 rushers was more embarrassing than when Les kneeled the ball with 3 minutes left.

That’s why Nuss is bad for this offense, he won’t run

A qb with even just a threat to run, would have forced Ole Miss to abandon that 3 man rush strategy and given us a much better chance.

The 2023 line was not very good but JD made up for it. Nuss can’t and that’s why he should sit

Nice breakdown on it - the simple truth is that any run capable QB would have torched that defense last night. Every other team that has played them did it with even a minimally running QB. Two designed QB draw plays early on for 8-10 yards would have changed the whole defensive game plan.

I was just doing a joke like we needed to double team everybody to be able to block

Yesterday, there is no reason why Adams takes the end on his side one on one and the other 4 double the other 2 DL. That was pathetic. Sloan and Davis need to go.
