Looking at state’s offense Evans is by far their most explosive playmaker. He has 574 yards and 5 TD’s in two games. He mostly plays out the slot. Pickett is your best cover guy and also your best athlete. I think having him shadow Evans would help slow down this miss state pass game. What do y’all think ?

Nah DJ can’t keep up with Evans one on one.

They’ll have to bracket Evans and hope the other WRs can be contained one on one.

I know Evans can fly but Pickett is no slouch he’s a 10.6 guy. Faster than Peterson and Derek Stingley who are both 4.3 guys. Thats plenty fast enough to cover him esp paired with his length and physicality. Pickett is one of the fastest corners in the country

Pickett is the best cover corner LSU has had since Tre White.

Yes, I remember Stingley.

No, we will play soft zone, allow 10-15 yard receptions all day and you will like it.

I would throw mansoor Delane in there as well he was an absolute locksmith last year. But I agree he’s up there as far as cover corners. It truly feels like he isn’t on the field when we run man coverage cause he is rarely targeted and on film he more often than not has his man smothered. Stingley had out of this world ball skills but he gave up some balls in coverage. Infamously Devonta smith ate his lunch. The only bad cover game I could think from Pickett was vs Houston but outside of that he’s been an elite man corner.

That is not something Baker does and with the amount of zone we've been playing lately it doesn't even matter.

Delane was ELITE last year. I realize it was a bad season but he was an eraser. He feasted all year.

DJ is no where near the CB Stingley was as freshman

Saying so is just silly

DJ is a solid CB but lacks the playmaking skills of previous greats

I will admit that Delane is as good as anyone. The only reason I leave him off is only being here one year.

It’s a personal bias.

He is absolutely elite

Yes he is. This season DJ is as good as Stingley was his freshmen year. Stingley had more talent, but his technique was poor. Two different SEC receivers schooled Stingley that year, the Bama guy and the Florida guy. And it was all due to poor technique.

for real

LSU has benefitted from playing against some terrible QB play so far this year and no real stud WR.

in 2019 Stingley faced a complete gauntlet of WRs and QBs that won a ton of CFB games

Which of the four first round picks are you talking about? Or the 2nd Rd pick? (Metchie)?

Pickett wont play against a WR better than any of those guys this year.

are you talking about the 4th overall pick in the draft Kyle Pitts or 2nd rounder Van Jefferson?

Would 100 percent take cam Coleman, deuce Alexander or lotzier brooks over metchie. Metchie was a good player but he’s not as talented as any of the guys I mentioned imo
