Do NIL and 5-for-5 mean we're back to expecting even some great players to stay 4 years?

Agreed. I think what the OP is suggesting is that NIL might be an incentive for some 'mid-grade' players to stay at one school for 5 years.

Great: 3 and gone
Mediocre: 1 or 2 and transfer out for PT
Mid-grade: 5 for 5 w/ NIL

Not great, but good. More players will look at the teams drafting first though.

Probably gets more 4th and lower round picks to stay another year to get a day 1 draft grade.

But if they are 1st or 2nd rounders, they still gone.

Players would not sign free agent deals and stay in school if they are not draftable. Lower round players would definitely make more money staying college.

The first two players taken in this year's NFL draft were four-year college players.
