re: Discussions are under way to play 2013 TCU game at Cowboys Stadium

What about TCU in Dallas with return trip to New Orleans - that might be enticing and TCU could come into Louisiana - both could be neutral site with 50/50 split and LSU could handle rest if TCU returned New Orleans tickets
But this isn't the two schools discussing a move to Dallas on their own. This involves a promoter and an official "game". And, like Houston, New Orleans does not have an event like Dallas does, so who then promotes/puts-on the game?
An aside: I still do not understand why the Sugar Bowl has not jumped on this bandwagon.
Besides, I think you'd piss the LSU fans off even more if you were to reschedule a home game to the Dome.
Again, I think the main point of contention with THIS game is that it was already scheduled to be played in TS. Moving it out of TS and over to Dallas is one thing, but I think you'd have even more people pissed if they moved it to New Orleans. And, yes, I get what you're saying about a pseudo-home/home.

that being said, what do you recommend for us to get quality teams to schedule a home-and-hime with us?

TCU is 'scheduled' to play here.
VT has played here.
Isn't Oklahoma on the books, as well?
Arizona played here.
ASU will play here in a few years.
Oregon State played here.
NC State is slated to play in TS.

like VT, ASU, and Washington; they only reason they did those deals is because we were willing to travel to their place first

Okay...
Of course we will have to pay teams to come play here and be willing to reciprocate - I don't think that's the issue.
Sure, OK might be 8 years out...but at least the games are scheduled.
And they damn near won the game, as well. I think THAT'S exactly why some teams DO want to play here. You get a large payout, get to play in Tiger Stadium, and have a chance to beat LSU at home in what will, more than likely, be a nationally televised game.

I don't remember what the schedule was before the OR game was agreed to, but was that date already slotted to be a home game with another team and we moved it to accommodate the OR game, or was it open?
There was an open date on the schedule.
There is also an open date on the 2012 schedule, and my money is that it will be filled with a neutral site or road game against a BCS team, which is fine by me. I don't get the logic of people who would rather watch LSU play a 1-AA team at home just so they can tailgate!

TCU is one of the worst fan travelling teams in the nation....

No, I agree with this.
If it's an open date, then by all means schedule the big neutral game site - just don't screw with the big, already scheduled, home game.

We already have too few home games
Yes, we only play 6 home games this year, which is an anomoly. However, that hasn't happened since the 80's when teams usually played half of their schedule on the road. We have had 7, and even 8, home games every other year in recent memory. Realistically, there is no need for 8 home games, and I have heard the national media hold that against SEC teams in the past as if they are scared to leave home.

Fiirst Sean Payton and now this

Right now, there's talk about what could be an annual LSU-TCU series in Dallas beginning in 2013.
Now THAT would be interesting...

I would be up for a more than two game series with Texas, but definitely not TCU

Not to take this off topic, but does playing "big" games like this, and the Oregon game, in Cowboys stadium provide any significant benefit for LSU recruiting in Texas?

I thought the original plan for this game was for it to be played in Reliant Stadium in Houston OR home and home...
This is garbage. We're LSU...Are we going to start giving up our 7th home game every year for this neutral site crap that ends up being virtually a home game for our opponents?

As much as i would hate to have a huge game like this takin away from tiger stadium it wouldnt be a home game at all for TCU if it was is in Cowboy Stadium. Last year i watched their game versus Oregon State and they did even open the upper decks for that game! I think they didn't even bring in over 45K, can you believe that? Im sure with LSU in town they would draw more fans but it would easily be 50/50 maybe even more like 60/50 LSU if this happened.

$ from a home game are significantly higher.
This is incorrect. We will actually net much more money from the neutral site game than if we had a home game. The promoters had to guarantee that money in order for LSU to commit to the game. Also, LSU doesn't have to pay the opponent. So, I am sorry to say that you are incorrect on this one.
BUT.........
I FREAKING HATE THE IDEA OF MOVING AN ALREADY SCHEDULED HOME GAME TO A NEUTRAL SITE GAME. FIRST ALLEVA IS MAKING EVERY ATTEMPT TO KILL TAILGATING AND THE PRE-GAME ATMOSPHERE. BUT NOW HE WANTS TO REMOVE THE HISTORY, MYSTIQUE, AND ATMOSPHERE OF TIGER STADIUM FROM TIGER FOOTBALL....TIME TO GET RID OF HIS arse NOW! AND JUST FOR CLARITY I'M NOT JOKING. HIS HIRES HAVEN'T BEEN STELLAR AND HE IS KILLING THE CULTURE OF LSU ATHLETICS. GET HIS arse OUT NOW!

trying to create a recruiting stronghold in DFW is a terrible idea
Since we already have an away game scheduled in Ft. Worth to play TCU, I disagree that playing the game in Jerry World would do anything to enhance the creation of a recruiting stronghold in DFW.
The loss of a game in Tiger Stadium has a greater negative effect than the positive effect on recruiting of moving a game already scheduled in Ft. Worth to Arlington.
