I do think that LSU should be doing some home/aways with major programs esp where our fans would enjoy the road venue... but I'm really not sure that TCU is that kind of team anyway
Why?
BCS team
Consistently highly ranked in the last few years
6 hour drive
Friendly laid back city with lots of arts and good nightlife
Clean accomedating campus not located in the slums of the city
Football team that focuses strongly on in your face defense similar to SEC
Warm climate
Gorgeous coeds
not sure what you are missing here

a big famous stadium
nothing against the location - but if LSU plays a game in Texas IMO it should only be at:
1) Jerryworld
2) A&M or
3) Texas
TCU needs to double their stadium size and then we can think about it.
Nothing personal - I have no interest in LSU visiting Houston, Baylor, or Texas Tech either

Since the current rennovations will have our stadium at or larger than Vandy, Mississipi State, and Ole Miss I suppose LSU shouldnt travel there either?

Sounds good to me.

that's a silly argument
you have to travel to play teams in your own conference.
out of conference you can be selective - bigger programs bring in smaller programs and never return the trip... because financially it doesn't make any sense for them
I like the idea of LSU playing TCU in Baton Rouge or in Jerryworld. But I see no motivation for LSU to travel to a small stadium... when they could do the same thing at a more interesting venue (Michigan, USC, tOSU, OU, Texas, A&M, FSU...) instead
Same rules functionally apply to a small SEC school like Vanderbilt really. They were brought in by Michigan to be their road kill to start the season a year or two ago - and obviously Michigan is not returning the favor

You don't think a neutral site game against a Texas school at Reliant would be awesome?

I like playing TCU in Jerryworld as a one and done - or LSU can play TCU in Baton Rogue with no return trip
I see no justification for playing TCU at TCU - their stadium is smaller than some high school stadiums in Texas

Verge Ausberry says it is not so. I just got this email from him:
At current time we have a home and home with TCU. If TCU wants to play their home game in Cowboy stadium that is their call, but we have no intention of taking our home game to Dallas.
Thanks,

So playig in a sterile NFL stadium that costs an arm and a leg to sit in and at a location that will not allow tailgating is somehow better than playing at a stadium with similar seating to some SEC schools, on a campus that embraces tailgating, with other college fans where LSU fans can enjoy the fanfare and traditions of a another great university?
For recruiting abilities, I can promise you there will be more potential recruits at games on TCU's campus than there will be in Jerry world.
You have a right to your opinion but I think it has more to do with an elitest attitude than practicality.

I don't think so - practicality dictates you do what is better for your program
And it seems like the money made at Jerryworld would be better - so that seems a lot more practical from LSU's point of view doesn't it?
RE: recruits at the game - that is the only thing you mentioned that really interested me... but I'm not sure how they are going to really have more access in such a small venue - seems more like they wouldn't be able to get seats

We should be having games at Reliant Stadium in Houston if we are concerned about establishing recruiting areas. Yeah, we already recruit Houston regularly but we still don't get some of the best talent from that area like an Andrew Luck.
If only there were a scout based in Houston to help us out...

Im certain that TCU is paying LSU for any of these scenarios. Some have said that the Jerry World game will pay more than an LSU home game but, how much is uncertain. The intangables like money dumped into the economy in Baton Rouge vs Dallas, fan satisfacion, player satisfaction, recruit impression of playing big games at neutral sites, should be estimated too.
As far as the recruits at the TCU game you can bet that TCU will have a handful of potentials at that game since it will be one of the biggest games of the season for the Frogs.

JerryWorld pays out a lot - for Arky and A&M what they made compared favorably to what they made for a home game

fan satisfacion,
this is an issue - makes LSU fans in Dallas happy and probably some LSU fans in BR less happy

player satisfaction
probably greater at Jerryworld - place is nice as hell - they have plenty of chances to play games in Baton Rouge and enjoy that as well
for college players who never make the NFL this is a rare opportunity to play at a top notch NFL stadium

recruit impression of playing big games at neutral sites
well I dunno what to make of this - TCU is a program on the rise atm but this will certainly not be LSU's biggest game of the year... we have games against Alabama, Florida, and other SEC powers every year and those games are must wins to win the SEC
For a recruit who lives near Jerryworld this would seem like a potential positive - for a recruit not able to make that trip LSU would have another 6 or 7 games in Baton Rouge they might prefer

see this is why that might help TCU - if you feel like your recruits would love to see TCU host a major team (rather than see the same at Jerryworld).
But it really doesn't do anything for LSU... for a big game LSU recruits would probably be more interested in LSU/Bama or LSU/Florida etc... LSU being worried about TCU getting to impress their recruits really doesn't strike me as something we should worry about

I can agree with this. I was implying that the recruits in question may actually be looking at both schools?
IDK, ultimately I am a college football fan not a NFL fan for a reason. I enjoy the pagentry and traditions of college ball. The growing trend of moving games away from schools to neutral sites or manipulating game times for TV is disturbing to me overall, especially when in takes them out of Tiger Stadium or Lupton Stadium.

I'm still not over only having 6 homes games this season.

That's good to read.
Looks like Jordy started prematurely connecting dots after reading about Gary Taylor's "feeling" that LSU would be playing future games at Jerry World and the "talks" about an annual series with TCU.

I think its great someone needs to get these chumps out the picture might as well be LSU.im tired of all them no name teams in the top 10.they stay in the top 10 by not playing any good teams.well guess what we gonna expose the pac-whatever early in the season.i think we have tough scheldue.playing these good teams helps us later in the year.

I don't lump TCU and Boise into the same group. TCU is a program on the rise, and I expect them to compete instantly in the Big East. Instead of whining every year, they decided to join a bcs conference and try to win it. I have to respect that and assume they will continue to have a legit team.
Bring it on!
