Disappointing crowd size Friday night vs Kentucky

Those fans who were there made plenty of noise but to draw only 7,400 for a game against a top ten ranked conference opponent was disappointing.

There were at least 10 vacant seats near my seats in the grandstand. I thought we would have had at least 9K there.

Anybody have any ideas what it is going to take to fill up Alex Box for a big game? Are the new rules prohibiting reselling tickets outside the stadium discouraging fans without tickets from going?

I really think it's the new Box. I'll probably get bashed but that's just me. The new Box lacks a lot of the energy and character that the old Box had. A game like that at the old Box would have been crazy. The crowd would have been rocking.

People don't look at the rankings for baseball, IMO.

If they see Kentucky, they think Kentucky..even though they have been good the past 2 seasons.

Arkansas, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Miss St, Ole Miss.

Those are the names they see, and think "this may be a good series, let me scoop up some tickets".

Sorry, I can't buy that as an excuse. It was 63 degrees at game time with almost no wind. I had to take off my wind breaker before the game started because I was sweating.

I really wonder if the TV coverage is hurting attendance.

i dont think it's that. it seems the TV coverage is way to sporadic to actually hurt attendance.

Rankings aren't that known in baseball and there's nothing to promote it really. People at work who claim to be fans didn't even know how good our record was. Now that they know, they said they'll probably start going to games.

I highly doubt that having a nice new stadium keeps people away compared to an old piece of crap.
