You believed Burrow could lead us to a TD every time LSU had the ball. You believed JD could score on any and every play.

Both electric. Burrow more sustained. JD more dynamic.
If we got to see one of them play, we’d be blessed. Having both in 4 years is amazing.

Can’t believe we got them both.

There is really only one main difference, a national title. Both had statistically great seasons. Both led some of the top offenses college football has ever seen. JD was just stalled by a equally historically bad (by LSU standard) defense.

Crazy to even say that, since just a few years back it has been defense that has carried us, and offense that held us back. Now we had two all time great offenses.

Joe Burrow is our greatest of all-time.

But on a purely collegiate level, I think Jayden is maybe actually better … and I would have never imagined I could ever possibly hold this viewpoint (much less in under 5 years).

But here we are ….

I think you have recency bias. Burrow could score on any play, and quite often did. He was an absolute surgeon.

This takes nothing away from JD.

Absolutely. The only thing he couldn't do that JD could was run past LBs and DBs like they were 350 pound lineman. Throwing the ball though, it's Burrow. We were extremely lucky to get to watch both.

Daniels is obviously a better runner

Burrow is more accurate. There were a few throws a game where Daniels just misfired. he was very much a rhythm player.

Legacy wise Daniels was definitely let down by his defense but he still hadn’t turned the corner against FSU. I think that’s still a rough game even with 2019s defense.

Both great. Burrow had the intangibles that galvanized the team which included the defense and the coaching staff.

Joe is unique in that regard. He does the same in the NFL.

Jayden runs faster and Joe throws better. But each is no slouch with either of those.

Carry on

On this topic, did Burrow "only" win two more awards than Jayden, the Manning and Maxwell? Or are there some others that are less prominent.

Did Jayden win any that Joe didn't?

I’m just glad Daniel’s got over the hump of pulling the trigger downfield.

Without that, never might have seen his greatness

YEP = this was the only complaint against him last year - not taking the chance of putting the ball up for the receiver to make a play.

And this year, he seemed to put the ball up in precisely the same spot where only the receiver could get it. In my mind he compares favorably, if not better, than Burrow. JD was unreal this entire year.

This, I often thought the same. I can recall myself saying man if we just had a pretty good qb.

In my opinion here is the difference:

Burrow was the most elite at reading a defense and checking to the correct play/finding the mismatch

Daniels was the most elite scrambling qb in LSU history.

I saw glimpses of Burrow’s potential in 2018, and the change in offense system helped him the most.

I did not see the improvement in Daniels passing ability to the level it did. He is a great role model for younger guys because he really took to coaching.

I think the overall shock of Burrow leading an unstoppable offense at LSU after the previous decade was the most surprising aspect of comparing the two.

Only with a coach and OC who know how to put him in a scheme to succeed. Carmichael is not that.

Agreed

And what he can do in the NFL is still unknown

Unfortunate that Joe's NFL career has been hampered with injuries. Hope he has a healthy career moving forward.

Saints will not draft any QB in the first round and even if they did, they WILL NOT DRAFT an LSU player in the first round.

Burrow made the crticial 3rd down against Texas. JD did not make the critical 3rd down against Ole Miss.

That is the difference.
