LSU fans are spoiled because Les Miles has won at least 10 games in 7 of his 10 seasons. Only won 10 games 3 times in the previous 40 seasons before him.
I get your point, but you're a bit misleading. For many of those 40 years teams only had an 11 game regular season, and no SEC championship game, thus making a 10-win season more difficult. And in a few of those 40 years we only had a 10 game regular season.

Don't fool yourself Tommy was one of the best all around athletes to ever come through here. Dude was a stud QB, baseball player and basketball player. Hell I am sure he even did track, tennis and golf.
Went to Dixie basketball camp with my team in '83. Hodson was there with his South Lafource team. Lots of good players there. Hodson was the best player there, ask anyone who was there and they'd agree.

Central Lafourche representin'.... and yes, he was an all around great athlete, though he may not have looked the part....

He was an above average QB that had an above average receiver in Wendell Davis and above average RB in Harvey Williams, but overall, the team was average in the SEC. 8 wins was considered a very successful season in the late 1980's. LSU has been spoiled recently. Hodson was very handsome which added to his popularity.
This statement is completely laughable. You don't have a clue! I went to school with a guy, Chet Constant and he was one of the best if not the best pure all around athlete I have ever seen. All District in 7 sports. What I am getting at is that he did not look the part either. Tommy may have been better than that. No way in hell he left here weighing 220

Hell of a competitor and clear leader of the team.
He got a totally raw deal in the NFL. Had to start as a rookie on what is arguably the worst non-expansion team since the merger (only the 08 Lions might have been worse). That Patriot team went 1-15 and was miserable at every other position. They clearly weren't coached well, and that matters when you are a rookie.
Still an all-time favorite, since my years and his matched up perfectly.

You goof balls implying Hodson's success was due to his receivers are ridiculous. I was in 7th Grade and his dad was my PE coach. I remember when he told us his son committed to LSU. I was pumped beyond belief because I'd go see him play at Central LaFourche every friday night with the rest of the town. I saw a pro style QB who was a man among boys back before he had his gifted LSU receiver to throw to. Hodson had quite the down field passing attack even in high school. He didn't have a gun for an arm but he went downfield often and was pretty accurate. Can't help but wonder if his career would have been any different if he didn't get his knee destroyed in the Bama game.
On a side note, i recall Michael Brooks getting his knee destroyed that year too...someone might correct me if my dates are wrong.

Hodson was hurt against Ole Miss in 1987. The game before the Bama game. Guidry started the Bama game. Hodson came in late but threw a pick which led to their clinching TD. Brooks wasn't on the 1987 team. Brooks hurt his knee in the third game of the 1986 season against Florida.
To the guy who KNOWS what weight Tommy was. I played intramural bball against him his 5th year senior year at LSU. I was 6ft 210. I can ASSURE you he was easily 6'3" 220. On another note, he was raining bombs from the time line like they were lay ups. He was an all American basketball player in high school and it showed.

Didn't need to because he was pure talent. That hitch in his motion cost him in the NFL tho.
