Did starting the season with lower expectations help the Baseball team?

Last year we started as number 1, and I think we ate the cheese, already thinking we were really good when we probably needed a lot more practice and didn’t address our weaknesses. This year, we started out with a little lower expectations, ranked 12 and behind some other SEC clubs. I think this might have prompted us to work harder as Daniel Cabrera recently said in an interview they’ve been grinding a lot harder than previous seasons, and I think it showed last night. Hopefully we will be a little more humble and grind our way back to the top this year as opposed to previous overrated pulmonary teams. Last night was a great start.
I KNOW WE PLAYED 1 GAME IM TALKING ABOUT IN GENERAL

Yes in a way. I prefer where we are ranked now.

Starting out with the underdog mentality can't hurt.

We should probably hold off anointing them until they’ve played more than one game.

No way of knowing since they've played one game.

No having better and healthier pitchers helps.

Not anointing anyone just saying it’s nice to not be grossly overrated

Last night was a strong start against a competitive team. I guarantee you our staff and players have higher goals than a #12 ranking. Fans put too much creedence in baseball polls. Polling in baseball is less accurate than in MBB and fball, IMO.

The Yearly expectation for LSU baseball is to compete in the college World Series.

2019 was a team ranked on what they “had” done and not what they were.
The pitching staff this year is better and Eddie Smith is exponentially better.

Unfortunately every one of those pitchers caught the dreaded, highly-contagious "Sore Arm Virus" that was going around.

No. It doesn't work that way.

Still a lot of hitters getting dominated in some soft spots in the lineup. Need guys to at least get the ball in play rather than the 8 Ks
