He will be a Joe Morgan (Saints/ WR) type player!

A lot of guys "stick" in the NFL b/c they excel at special teams. This is his calling in football at the next level.

Coach and recruiter. That's his calling. I promise you he does not have NFL talent at any position including special teams. He apparently does have a great personality and work ethic, though. If he uses them, that's way more valuable than NFL talent. A good assistant coach can make half a million dollars per year for 40 years. That's way more than the average starter in the NFL makes in his career.

This, if he can manage to get off Twitter. Can't see him making an NFL roster, though I'd love to see him do it.

Don't these coaches know that he is the greatest football player of all times and that everyone is conspiring against him by not realizing this??? When will you Shep lovers realize just because you are great in high school does not mean you be great in college?

HIs only chance would have been to have been switched to CB as soon as he got on campus his freshman year. Who knows if he would have excelled with that switch but we do now know that he wasnt well suited for the offensive side of the ball. The other thing that he could have done is gone to a much smaller school, a N Texas st, or maybe a La Tech where he could have possibly gotton a lot of reps at WR early on (that being if he could beat out the talent at those schools which isn't a given)

Almost blocked a punt

That pretty much sums up the legacy of Russell Shepard.

RS isn't strong enough for the NFL. goes down way to easy. he doesn't have Trindon's speed either to say he's a burner.

i hope he makes a practice squad, that'd be good for him to at least get a check.

Those senior bowl coaches really wasted Sheps potential in this game.

I do remember him getting targeted by Landry Jones two times in a row. The first time was a curl route in which he had some separation, but did not come back to the ball on the inside enough and the ball was thrown inside and hit off of one of his hands. The next target was a comeback route in which he was blanketed by the corner but the ball was thrown off target too high and to the outside too much. The main thing he should probably work on until the draft is his route running, that is still probably the worst part of his game

And he did "almost block a punt".

Is that the same as almost making a catch?

All the best to Shep, but he doesn't have NFL skills.

I only saw two passes thrown to him while I was watching. Landry Jones was the QB.

Both were comeback routes. First route was good, but a bad throw. The commentators didn't know if Shep should have brought the route more inside or if Jones just missed.

Second route he didn't sell the fade well enough and the CB was on him. It was another bad throw though by Jones.

Hard to be effective on the field when you're tweeting all game.

Football star? No.

Social media darling of LSU students? YES!

Did ok, but the Southeastern kid stole the show as far as Louisiana schools go.

It wasn't a great throw by any means, but it hit him in the hands...

Almost.
Sadly that one word pretty well sums up his LSU career.

He didn't throw a pass????? Nor have 100+ yards rushing and receiving.

Wow the coaching staff must not know how to use him. Probably the worst coaching staff ever!
