First memory was watching the 1968 Peach Bowl versus Florida State in rainy Atlanta. For some reason, the first few Peach Bowls were played at Georgia Tech's Grant Field.

From start to finish, the 1969 season was the first season. Attended Auburn game, then watched on TV the next week when Archie Manning ruined the perfect season and Cotton Bowl bid.
1968 Peach Bowl vs. Florida State (on TV) ... a rainy night and muddy field. Ron Sellars, Bill Cappleman vs. LSU defense.

In person ... at home vs. Auburn in 1969. It was the last day game played in Tiger Stadium until 1977. Anyone who witnessed this classic was hooked for life.
The real turning points in Archer's demise were losses at Ohio State and at home against Miami ... both during the 1988 season. The team played uninspired football against Syracuse in the Outback Bowl. The decline and fall had begun.

How bad was Hallman? The 1992 season was horrible, ending at 2-9. There were home losses to Colorado State and Kentucky, and a national TV loss at Arkansas.

The dark ages of LSU football were 1989-1994. I give Dinardo some credit for bringing back respectability to the program. He couldn't sustain it, however.

Louisville ...
but probably will end up with TCU in the Liberty Bowl.

Citrus vs. Michigan
Taxslayer (Gator) vs. Penn State
Texas Bowl vs. Texas Tech
Utah - 1974
Mississippi State - 1970
Florida State - 1981
1969 ... 3 points away from an undefeated season, but no bowl game.
These are the first uniforms I remember from the mid-1960's thru 1971.

This photo is from 1969, when Casanova was used on offense. It's against Alabama. Look carefully and you'll see the 100 logo on their helmets.

I remember going to this game as a 6-year old. That season I saw LSU beat Auburn and Alabama in Tiger Stadium.

I think the Tigers end up in Jacksonville vs. Minnesota.

Auburn, 1969 (21-20 classic)
Last day game at Tiger Stadium until 1977
Last season: 9-9 (SEC) and 19-12 (overall)
This season: 9-9 (SEC) and 18-12 (w/SEC tourney remaining)

Disappointed as well.
1984-1987

Great years for football and basketball seasons ... baseball program was building a great foundation as well.
Everyone remembers the Auburn games of 1969 and 1988, but another to note was the 1972 night game. Both LSU and Auburn were unbeaten. In fact, Auburn lost no other game that year. LSU didn't lose until the ninth game at Birmingham. In the first half, Bert Jones was unbelievable. The final was 35-7.

From the 70's:
1979 USC
1971 Notre Dame
1970 Ole Miss
1976 Nebraska
1972 Auburn

A couple of backs and a tight end with great hands:

Dalton Hilliard
Sammy Martin
Brad Boyd
The loss of recruit Johnny Hector to Texas A&M also contributed to Mac's demise.

1969 vs. Auburn

21-20 classic, and the last day game played at home until 1977.
