or did he just hear he was good, looked at some stat sheets and decided to go roll the dice? I really cant understand how you wouldn't be aware of the rinky dink nature of Canada's offense until mid season. I mean did he not go to practices either?

As crazy as that sounds based upon the timeline and how obvious it is now that they didn't fully do their homework on him I have little doubt that this is true.

Canada was a rush hire because O sat aroung whacking his hoyner waiting on Joey Freshwater who was never coming. NSD was fast approaching and he needed a good fast hire to sell recruits. The lone offensive Broyles finalist fit the bill.

Ed O wasn't officially the coach, but the OC was let go when he was named the interim. So Ed knew if he got the job, that's one spot that had to be filled.

I just don't think Joe had a grasp at the whole picture firing Miles, and I don't think Ed had a true plan on what to do if things don't go as planned.

close but your wording isn't quite right. Ed is the one who fired Cam. He wasn't just let go.

Orgeron is obviously a very analytical, detailed, and prepared person. There is no doubt he spent hours checking into Canada’s offensive philosophy, playcalling aptitude, and working style on top of your basic everyday film watching.

T-Baw aka Fat Goebbles read about him on Football scoopes and Austin Thomas took all the film he could find on YouTube and Hudl and then they Pitched Canada to Cookie Monster or something like that.....or at least that how it was explained to me by my Roux in a can sauces

If I had to guess, id think he thought the players would be able to pick up on Canadas offense but they struggled with it.

It's easier for people that have been around football for awhile to pick up on the offense than it is a high school kid that probably only ran one type of offense.

I think Canada could have been successful after a few years but the LSU fanbase doesn't work that way. That's the one thing I do think O understands. New coaches must win now especially following a very successful coach.

Didn't Miles and Cameron get fired at the same time, and then later they named O interim?

Offense was not rinky dink. You never saw his offense. Canada was never allowed to truly run his O.

He didn’t get rid of him for football reasons. Which makes this that much more pitiful.

sure he did. One Half of the Troy game where he “limited the shifting” doesn’t mean all year long.

One thing O kept harping on was how he did not like the way the red zone offense was being called.

My honest opinion, yes, he did watch film, he even said Canada's offense was creative. I think the ultimate issue was O wanting to meddle in his offense. Some people can't just let a good thing go, they are just compelled to micro-manage. Whether it's ego or boredom or just a mentality to impose his will anywhere he see's fit, IDK. I think O has screwed up on this one. Canada has proven he can coordinate against the nations best teams. He did against bama this season, he did at Pitt against Clemson last season. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, should be O's moto, cause one team one heartbeat is beyond his ability to comprehend.

Hence the powerful goal line offense that drove the game to two overtimes?
