I agree! But has Womack been much better? Not really
Bruh, you serious? He played 5 snaps against Ark and recorded 1 sack, 3 pressures, and 2 hurries. He also played sparingly against Grambling, mostly special teams, where he destroyed the returner on his first ever snap.

Edit to add: Jones is slow AF and couldn't hold an edge all night. Sure he may be better overall against the run, but once Lane discovered he could beat Jones around the edge he called it every chance he got. And it worked every time. We dont have a Dline coach to make the necessary adjustments, but it would have been nice to try Womacks speed.

He played a pretty good bit. OM ran 80 something plays. Players can't play 80 snaps. They are going to need to rotate.

You might want to tell Kelly that.

Safeties
Starters vs. Ole Miss: Major Burns, Andre Sam, Sage Ryan (nickel)

Major Burns (94 snaps)

Andre Sam (93 snaps)

Sage Ryan (90 snaps)

Starters vs. Ole Miss: Greg Penn, Omar Speights

Greg Penn (91 snaps)

Whit Weeks (54 snaps)

Omar Speights (41 snaps)

Ole Miss ran 88 plays on offense, assuming the DL didn't play much special teams, I've included the % of snaps.

Starters vs. Ole Miss: DE Saivion Jones, DT Maason Smith, DT Mekhi Wingo

Mekhi Wingo (80 snaps): 91%

Maason Smith (78 snaps): 87%

Saivion Jones (72 snaps): 82%

They were late for their smoothie after workouts and practice.

Part of the reason for those snap numbers is the tempo from Ole Miss. I would be very curious to see how many times we substituted mid-possession on defense.

Still would have liked to see them observe that trend and proactively rotate our DL at the beginning of drives.. those guys were gassed by the end of the game.

As for the safeties.. not sure we had much choice on that front.

Would be nice to see what he can do in obvious passing situations.

Womack definitely needs more snaps. Kelly always talks about building through his recruits.

He now has a chance to play them. The drop-off from the upperclassmen to the freshmen isn't noticeable.

Let them learn on the fly this year.

The only reason Weeks went in was because Spieghts got injured. Personnel decisions are questionable at best.
