Cal Poly was giving their players extra on the side. CAL POLY.

Cal Poly has been placed on two years probation and will be forced to vacate several team and individual championships and records.
The penalties stem from textbook-related financial aid and monitoring book stipends during the period between 2012 and 2015.
Cal Poly claims the number of student-athletes that were over-paid totaled about 30, while the NCAA counters it was 265.
And you think the overwhelming majority of the big schools aren't doing this?

Serious question
Has there been any alleged evidence of money being received by a player (I know there was a damn strong offer, but who received it , when was it received and how much )
More importantly , is there any evidence of who paid the money? I have seen all of the Dawkins stuff, but he is a go between. In both the Arizona and Louisville situations, money could be tied back to a specific person at a show company. I haven’t seen that yet with the LSU media reports.

We haven't been made aware of any proof of actual payment yet. If official allegations come you would have to think that the NCAA has found something I guess.

PROVE they don't. We're not an enforcement body with unlimited resources to investigate every single program in America with limitless subpoena power. But, we also don't bury our heads in the sand and pretend that impermissible benefits are outliers in the grand scheme of college athletics recruiting at major universities. I really wish we could live in whatever fantasy land you do, but unfortunately most of us have common sense. And if you want the honest truth, I couldn't care less if we pay athletes or not. To take it further, I'm glad we do. I'd rather be on a more level playing field with programs like Kentucky than be a perennial loser.

And we do know for a fact that Calipari is cheating. He's already been busted for it twice. So, in order to compete for an SEC title, we need to be able to keep up with him.

Are you saying that Dickie V has denounced either Duke or Kansas?
Posted on 5/12/20 at 1:37 pm to Rougarou13
Im saying Kansas has already received a notice of allegations. Just replying to what you were replying to

F Vitale. He has lost it. Once was the best ever in basketball is garbage now.
I hope his blue blood favorites over the years take a hit. The canary will then sing a new tune.

I was just referring to vitale’s blindness to other programs, not actual investigations.

The whole point is to not get caught ... yet you want us to prove it.
I guess you’re really just trolling.

Has he commented on the Duke and Zion situation? He seems fixated on two other schools when there is other news about the biggest schools happening now. I did see where he said he spoke to Bill Self and how Self and his AD will be united in fighting the major violations! But I didn't really see where Vitale stated his opinion on the allegations.

This is a list of schools identified in documents produced in discovery of the criminal trials who had players on their roster (and family members of players) documents as being paid (likely) improper benefits by at least one agency while they were either in college or being recruited. And that's just one agency!
Do you really think the coaches are naive as to what is going on? Or do you think the whole business is literally as simple as a HC going to a player with a stack of cash? It's all set up through runners, middlemen, uncles, etc. There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of Christian Dawkins's in the world of basketball recruiting. The power conf. HC's all know these guys because they are, in many cases, the intermediaries steering the prospects to certain schools. Do you honestly think the runners are helping steer guys to certain schools just because they think Bill Self, Wade, Bruce Pearl are just swell guys?

It details that players and sometimes family members received impermissible benefits, such as cash, hotel rooms, airline tickets and meals.
A list of the schools included in the report are:
Duke
North Carolina
Texas
Kentucky
Michigan State
USC
Alabama
North Carolina State
Seton Hall
LSU (this was during the Jones tenure)
Maryland
Washington

South Carolina
Louisville
Utah
Xavier
Wichita State
Clemson
Kansas
Creighton
Notre Dame
Vanderbilt
Virginia
Iowa State

Would alleva have demanded coach k sit down and discuss the Zion deal
Posted on 5/12/20 at 7:17 pm to nicholastiger
Jeff Goodman tweeted out today that Kentucky and Duke are using Nike to buy recruits.
And Dick Vitale refuses to address the Zion allegations.

And this statement proves that EVERYONE (100%) is cheating? Really?
You should probably reread the post I responded to. The line was "every successful program". So yeah, I guess you could argue about what constitutes successful vs not successful. But Duke, NC, Arizona, LSU, Louisville, Kansas...are programs that have been successful recently. And they're all cheating their asses off. Look at the list of 50 that the FBI is looking at currently. Pretty much all tournament caliber programs.
I honestly don't care either way as this has been a part of college athletics since the scholarship restrictions kicked in for football and again once TV dollars became real money for the programs. But I'm always a little surprised at the lengths people like yourself will go to in defense of the sanctity of the college game.
