fwiw, yes bama and the gators are both cheating asses and as long as the other 10 teams allow it, it will continue.
another thing, if the television monitors can put the photographs of the athletes on the tube (HDV, HD, Analog, etc) for viewers watching the game of each starting player for the games. They should put the pictures of the officials, including the review booth officials of that same game on the air and a little background and their affilitions to where they are from and went to school. if they are exposed as they don't mind exposing 19, 20, 21 , etc. yr. old students to their play calling, why not expose them in full context. These are grown men making these ludicrous calls and decisions!

You know this kind of shite from boosters and alum in Bama is what will end up making Saban leave. They just cant help themselves. They would most likely beat us anyway but they cant help but cheat. Maybe not straight up paying them but more like a Booster from Regions hooking a replay official up with a sweet intrest rate on a mtg... Or getting a large sum to speak at a Booster Club meetings..
Same old Alabama
Same old Alabama

quote:I don't know how this group could actually unite and file a suit. However, you can assured that the SEC, just like most individuals, are generally only motivated to do something when it hits their pocketbook.
the only answer for this kind of conflict, is for a lawsuit to be filed on behalf of people who legally bet on the game and lost
It seems a few years ago when Oklahoma had their fiasco with Oregon, the Oklahoma legislature was threatening to file a civil suit against the PAC-10 due to the resultant lost revenue that the game loss would cost the university and the state. If the Louisiana legislature would take some action, I'd be for it.
Now, many people would say, "shouldn't our politicians be working on more important things"; and the answer, Yes they should. But since they're not, they might as well make us happy and shite on the SEC's Parade.

This is probably elsewhere in this 8 page pile, but

And gets paid by speaking to Alabama Booster and Alum...

Then I guess all these other facts don't mean a thing....
He is a native of Alabama and was inducted into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame.” Mr. Burleson is same man that wrote a book about his time as an official that was named after something his good friend Bear Bryant supposedly said to him during a game ... "You Better Be Right.” Mr. Burleson lives in Blount County, Alabama and often speaks at Alabama booster club meetings, as well as other speaking engagements around the country, and is compensated for those speaking engagements.

This whole thing stinks. + I think LSU's president and athletic director should go to the SEC office with film in hand and demand answers. They can suspend both of them for the next game.
After the season, all of the schools in the SEC(except Alabama of course) should go to the SEC office and demand that this will never happen again.

Noted.
And guess what? I have 2 friends I have recently reunited with via Facebook. the guy I've known for over 30 years and we were in school together from the first grade through high school. I brought him and a few friends to their firt LSU game when we were about 14 or so. He and his wife are both Louisiana natives and LSU grads. He went to med school at Vandy, and they currently live in the Birmingham area.
On their Facebook page, they were pulling for BAMA.
Sometimes being a part of a community helps point you in a direction...and as far as I know my firend has never taken money to speak to a BAMA booster club.
The fact that Burleson went to GT in the 1950's is fairly meaningless to this discussion.

I knew it had to be a homer making the call. Just like Auburn in 06. The state of Alabama has a way of getting their guy in the booth. Can we do that in LA? Can we get that set up for next years AL game? Certainly our boosters have as much money as the Bama boosters.

That's ridiculous to say that Les Miles needs to waste time worrying about replay booth officials.
After what happened in Auburn 06 and Saturday in Bama, he should worry. The SEC and the NCAA should worry. It is totally wrong who was in that booth and they need to be exposed to preserve this game.

SEC should worry...
...only IF this all becomes national news.
Otherwise, SEC gets away with "no comment".

Ding Ding Ding...we have a winner.
Seems like it is a good story to me. Someone should pick up on it. Especially the SEC haters.

I actually know a former SEC official. He did not graduate from LSU but lives close to Baton Rouge and is of insanely high character as well. He was never allowed to call any LSU games or any that would directly influence LSU's season. So, I cannot understand why this guy is allowed to work this game . . . high character or not.
FWIW, when I asked this former official about the Auburn pass interference call, he actually knew the official that threw the flag. He talked to him about it shortly after and apparently the guy that threw the flag was told to pick it up and has never received an explanation as to why he was told to pick it up. Supposedly, when the referee of your officiating crew makes a decision on the field, that is the law and end of discussion. I know that info is friend of a friend BS, to take it with a grain of salt.

we are going to get to the bottom of this if any journalists take up the cause .. I have sent this info to same. I urge others to do the same, quickly before the spotlight moves elsewhere-- which is what Slive and his minions wish.

You guys are getting ridiculous now. Burleson's duty in the booth is to grade the officials. He has no authority on any call. If the replay official asks for advice on something, he's allowed to give it. The replay official (Gerald Hodges) makes the final call.
Gerald Hodges lives just outside of Knoxville, and I know for a fact he is not biased toward Bama. He is not allowed to officiate UT games, just as Steve Shaw is not allowed to officiate Bama games.
The supervisor does not need to be independent of the two competing teams because his job is to evaluate the other officials. This job is often done by a local ex-official to cut down on travel costs.
By the way, both teams are provided with a list of all officials (field and booth) long before the game, and have means to question the assignments. The officials are also graded after every game by the SEC and representatives of both schools. These evaluations determine which officials get bowl games, SECCG, or even which officials get invited to officiate the following year.
Did we get screwed by bad calls Saturday? Absolutely.
Did we get screwed by bad calls in the Florida game? Absolutely.
Is there some big conspiracy? Not likely. I'm not sure how you involve 50 or so officials plus 10-12 replay officials plus 10-12 supervisors in a major conspiracy like this, yet no one talks. Pretty impressive.
