Bowl games use out of conference refs for a reason and it's not tourism. I don't care if the SOB has a Nobel Peace Prize, Cong Medal of Honor and the Pope is canonizing him next week, he is a Gump and should be no where near any official position.

i dont care how much character any of us have we all have our prejudcices and biases. we are all human. i could never in a million years call and LSU game fairly and consider myself to be a pretty honest person. this guy could be the most honest person in the world but the bottom line is he should never be put in that situation simply because he is from alabama. and i believe it could go either way here, he could be from alabama and hate 'bama and like auburn. however, no matter what no one with any type of ties shold be able to be able to affect the outcome of the game.

Can LSUFreek or somebody call in a favor to Deadspin and have them cover this story?
That would get this ratcheted up to a whole new level.

Can some of you resourceful guys, please send this to ESPN, the major networks, SI.com, Sporting News........ as well as to Alleva and the LSU Athletic Department. This should be national news on SEC corruption.

How can a person who is compensated by an Alabama booster club possibly be allowed to work any games involving Alabama or teams it is competing against? This is infuriating and as corrupt as it gets.

Definitely need to give credit to the earlier ranter who broke this...

So how do we find out if he was actually in the booth?

i think its stupid to assume they are cheating because they are from Alabama
And you sorely misstate the situation with "Chances are, people that work for the conf may be from the area".

There is no doubt that the call not being a pick has bias written all over it. I would love for this to be a story on ESPN 360 or Real Sports with Bryant Gumble.
As a CPA, you should be independent in fact and appearance when giving your opinion/assurance on something. It is a travesty that officials don't live by similar rules. There is not doubt that the preception of corruption looms large because of it. He can go to hell.

Well, I guess it's up to us to make this story known... because hell, Jim Hawthorne doesn't even know who the replay official was. He said he thought the replay official's name was Bradshaw, which is incorrect.

Why the hell didn't Miles know this BEFORE the game and why didn't he see to it that somebody else was in the booth? Is he not paying enough attention to detail, stupid, or naiive? Which one?

Well we all know he is a "DICK"....

No one would suspect that a GUMP would be anywhere around the replay booth or officials and the fing NCAA and SEC should put an immediate end to this once and for all if true!

Miles shouldn't have to worry about who is in the replay booth. His job is not to monitor the conference his job is to get his team ready to play.
The conference (who only exists and profits because of member teams) should have the integrity to see that all teams are treated equitably and fairly.

This
LSU has a pretty good administrative staff that needs to be assigned the duty of watching the officials.

Well that is part of attention to detail. You better believe coaches know (or should know) what officials they are going to have for a game.
