It does sound like it. I don't think he was a bad person, he made a few mistakes and couldn't escape them. It's very sad. There was still enough time for him to pull his life together and make something positive out of it.

Did we ever stop and think maybe he didn't do it while he was driving. Maybe he crashed first then did it

No, it clearly sounds like someone that was spiraling, wasn't in their right mind and lost control, decided to end it.

Anybody that's ever been through a really tough bout of depression can almost imagine exactly what happened.

Lester Earl is defending Kyren not because Kyren was a former star at LSU, but because of something else about Kyren.

If you know Lester, you know what I’m referring to.

I’m not being a dick when I say this but “it makes you wonder if he was spiraling into depression”? So getting pulled from the NFL draft/an nfl Career (his life dream), being arrested for neligment homicide with an impending trial looming you are wondering if it was depression?

I was just trying not to ascribe something to a person I have no personal knowledge about, but I understand what you are saying.

He did participate in LSU's pro day after the traffic accident and had still not been officially charged. He was also still on most NFL draft boards in the later rounds and was expected to be drafted by most analysts. But another incident would have probably meant that was lost.

Probably not. Sounds like Kyren was an emotional wreck. If he would have been arrested for running from cops while out on bail for negligent homicide and felony hit and run his life would have been all but over. Dude took the easy way out.

I agree but idk driving fast, frantic because the cops are chasing you, maybe grab gun because police are chasing you and you want to either throw away the gun or do something stupider like use it against the police; accidentally shoot yourself

I wish he had had the option of coming back to LSU for his senior year while he worked through the legal process, ideally culminating with reaching a financial agreement with those impacted by the crash that he could have fulfilled with his NFL money.

No sympathy for him. He knew what he done was wrong and took the cowardly way out. God be with his family

Sorry, it doesn’t work like that in the real world

From The Houston Police Report per Nola.com

According to a preliminary investigation by the Harris County Sheriff's Office
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene
Units, Lacy shot himself during the pursuit and before the car crashed. Police said a review of body camera and car dash mounted video did not indicate any shots were fired after the chase ended.

I'm not gonna talk bad about someone who has died. I hope the family can find peace in this situation somehow. I also think mental health and life after college is something that needs to be taken more seriously. Some kids just are not ready for the world.

Tell me how that doesn’t make sense - he gets a chance to right his life and the victims are compensated.

Are you for real????

You seriously would want LSU to have on their roster a player who was arrested (then indicted by a grand jury (a grand jury was scheduled to convene tomorrow. 99% of cases that go before a grand jury end in indictment) ).

Indicted for negligent homocide for reckless driving which caused a man to die, then chose to drive around the accident and flee instead of rendering help.

A financial agreement for the family does not bring him back. The family wants Justice, not money!!!!

Do you think the current route of college athletics exacerbate that or not? 17-18yr old kids suddenly having 7 figures given to them probably speeds the process up quite a bit. When you’re an ordinary college kid just making it by your options for mischief are somewhat limited, 7 figures in your back pocket…look the frick out.

Mental health has always been an issue with college age kids. Make no mistake about it.
The issue with today is people are not strong minded as previous generations because of how kids are raised and the information they have in their hands.

1. Any prosecutor could get a ham sandwich indicted everyone knows that.

2. Yes I think the college environment would have been a good place for him to be while the matter was addressed

3. Nothing can bring back the deceased, so financial damages are the best attempt at “justice” currently at humanity’s disposal.

World is more than Money and your favorite schools success. I hope you are trolling otherwise you’re a ghoul and pretty shitty person. Would you like the money over justice if that was your loved one?

Also, god knows who else he may have hurt given that chance.

Yes. In Lester’s eyes, Kyren’s skin has a certain preferred pigmentation.
