Feel bad for those guys. They could have gone elsewhere and been playmakers in a modern offense. But they came to LSU where if you play tight end and your best skill isn't blocking, you won't play.

He's def been wasted, that's for sure.

1 of my gripes with Miles is that he sometimes punishes players for what they aren't instead of using them for what they are. DeSean Smith isn't a 300lbs blocking TE, so he barely plays. Need to cater to your players strengths, not punish them for their weaknesses. And I'm not saying DeSean should be playing majority of the snaps or whatever. But in obvious pass situations, there's no excuse to not have him in the game. Put him at FB and run him out in the flats or line him up in the slot or out wide as a WR. Take advantage of the mismatches that he creates.

And considering how drops have plagued us this year and Smith arguably has the best hands on the team, he should have been on the field a lot more. Whenever he gets in, Harris looks his way a good bit. Problem is that he rarely gets in. Kid should have played a lot more. Period.

I guess you missed the part about Smith being hurt.

I challenge y'all to do a lil research before you post.

No... He was injured a few weeks ago. Still played sparingly the 8 or so games before he became banged up. And that's what I'm not talking. I'm not saying "where the hell has Smith been the last 2 weeks?". Didn't say anything like that. I'm talking about the entire season. No excuse for not having him on the field more.

I challenge you to stop being a doucher and use reading comprehension. And Smith only missed the Arky and Ole Miss games. That's it.

he could be, but I don't know you are basing that on.

All our recievers have been the biggest waste of talent for the last couple years and in 2013 other than OBJ and Landry, all our other recievers were a waste of talent.

That's what the participation report says. Doesn't mean he wasn't "nicked" in any of those others.

I don't know why he didn't get on the field more, but when you miss two games its possible an injury was lingering before that. Or they preferred Jeter over him. And it looks like the games that Smith didn't make a catch in, Jeter did. Except for Syracuse.

I did comprehend what you wrote. And Jeter isn't 300lbs either. Played in every game. I was giving you the most likely answer. Smith was hurt.

What Jeter is about 250 lbs? He's just a more complete TE than Desean I believe and we just don't utilize our TE's very much (We really just don't have an OC/HC who know how to utilize the passing game anyway nor have a QB who knows how to either)

Hmm, so no one should have a problem with him playing over Smith.

Jeter 6'7 244
Smith 6'5 243
Gordon 6'5 308

Here is prob why Washington redshirted... 6'6 228. With him, I really have no idea what is planned.

Jeter was getting stoned by corners. Desean can't be much worse

Your name is ironic because it breaks my heart to laugh at what you posted but it's funny. Funny but sadly true. I'm damn near laughing and crying at the same time.

What info do you have that he WAS "nicked" though?

I don't remember his catching but one pass. when our #1 TE went down with injury why didn't smith take over?

he must be a liability at blocking for the RB's is all I can figure. it does burn me when other teams use their TE's to win games and we sign a ton of them and just don't see them used much.

we should just use and xtra OL and call him a TE

They are. That is literally the definition of what differentiates a TE from a WR is their proximity to the rest of the LOS.

Anyone that believes DS is a sure thing in the NFL isn't too smart. He has a ways to go to climb that ladder...

Even more ironic is that we recruit pass catching tight ends even though we really just want them to be extra tackles.

It's another case of les recruiting skills positions that don't match his scheme. Like a dual threat qb when we need them to game manage, hand the ball off, and complete 60%
