No idea what happened but it seems like it's usually a swimming pool accident when it's a young kid like this. People, please cover your pools if you have little ones.

Prayers sent.
Hope the little guy gets better.

Anybody know how old his son is?

I hate to hear stuff like this and pray he makes a full recovery. As a parent I can’t imagine the heartache of something like that.

Is this Derrius' actual son or a close family member or friend's kid? I had no idea he had a kid. He would've had Radyn his freshman or sophomore year at LSU if it's his, right?

Wasn’t there another athlete just last week who lost a child this way? It’s freaking awful...how can people continue to leave their children unattended when there is access to a hazard like this?

Yeah, but it happened a while back, but they recently opened up about what happened.
We've been looking at new houses and I keep telling my wife "nothing with a pool". Other than the costs, I don't want that constant nightmare looming over me. When my boy was less than a year old, we were at a friend's with a pool, and I was on him the entire night. I put eyes on him, went to get get a refill, and he was gone. Another parent found him hanging out on the pool steps. People without kids can't understand how fast that happens, even when you're being super diligent.

The boy is 3 and accidentally shot himself in the head. I live in the neighborhood this occurred in, and have followed heavily since my wife mentioned the father was an all-American running back from LSU. We can’t find any conclusive proof saying this is Guice’s son, but rather APPEARS to be the son of a guy that played at Woodlawn around Guice’s high school years that is a really close friend.

Wow if true. Awful no matter what. The parents have to be an absolute wreck right now. Hoping for a miracle

I saw the post from the mom on Facebook and did not realize the relationship to Guice. I felt horrible for the family then as I do now. As a parent I can only imagine the anguish they are going through. I truly hope that baby gets better.

Derrius Guice's little boy is in a fight for his life #PrayforRadyn
My second child, Elliot, was 2 weeks old when he went completely unresponsive. At the hospital they couldn't find out what was wrong, he was dying, they had tubes running in and out all over his body. They didn't expect him to live. His aorta was clamped off and very little blood was getting to his lungs. It's called aorta stenosis. He lived, thank God for the nurses and doctors who kept looking to find the problem. That was at Womans Hospital in Baton Rouge. Having a child that is dying is the worst feeling a parent can feel. Derrius feels helpless right now, his family feels helpless, there is so much pain in this. I hope everyone takes this to heart and prays for this baby.

The moms FB page says married but the guy in some of the pics is not Guice
Also, Guice says My little man, not son
Doesn’t matter if he is or isn’t, he’s a beautiful baby boy that needs a lot of prayers

It isn’t guice’s son. Not that it matters though.

I RA'd your comments. They need to be removed and you need to be banned from this thread. Your comments are very inappropriate and help no one, certainly not this baby or his family. You could at least be respectful of others and stay out of this discussion if this is how you really feel. Stop trying to get everyone to look at you at a time when many of us are doing what we can through prayer.

Country singer Granger Smith’s son just passed away from a drowning about 2 weeks ago.
