He quit the starting job 3 games in to sit out and transfer....apples to oranges!

I could be wrong but didn't a report come out that said Holgorsen told him to redshirt?

The word is that he wants LSU, but we do not want him.

Do we really want to turn into OU and look for a grad transfer every year at QB? It would be extremely difficult to get top QBs in recruiting if we constantly bring someone in to start ahead of the guys already on the roster.

Let’s ride with Brennan, Parrish, Finley & Johnson next year and get Caleb Williams in 2021

If this picture of Frost is your way of comparing Burrow to King you have to realize that one of these two is certainly not like the other!

No you dont "look for a grad transfer every year." But if a guy who scored 50 TDs in the FBS wants to come play for your school and your starting QB will be departing you at least hear the prospective transfer out.

I think judgement is being reserved until after spring practice

Imagine if we had said no to Joe Burrow because we already had Lowell Narcisse and Justin McMillan.

It's the mindset that is represented. If you're not getting better you're getting worse. Just because you have talent does not mean you don't continue to add it.

Brennan passed for 15,000 yards in high school and has been in our system for 3 years plus learning the new system for a whole year. I think he's gonna light it up. Pretty sure he broke Brett Farve's Mississippi hs records that were considered unbreakable but haven't confirmed that.

Who backs up Brennan if he gets hurt? No one will be ready

Lots of teams have rolled with true freshmen qbs.

We'll have a red shirt fr Parrish and 2 true freshman. Of course its not ideal, but shouldnt be the end of the world.

this board is filled with hypocritical homers.

Any player that transfers out is a quitter and scared to complete. But guys that transfer in are golden.

It’s not a question of who the fans want. If the coaching staff pursues him, then that tells you volumes about their trust in Brennan at this point. (See the Narcisse/McMillan/Burrow controversy.)

For the 1,000,000,000th time...King did not quit on his team. Dana Holgorsen tanked the season and asked King and a few others to sit out the remainderof the season and redshirt in order to have them next year.

Some posters simply refuse to accept this

Gotta be that he quit on his team

Dylan Farve's Mississippi HS passing records. Brett was a running QB in high school. Dylan also set the records at St. Stanislaus.

ETA: LINK Clarion Ledger's list of Mississippi HS career passing yard leaders thru the 2014 season.

I know the backup QB is always a fan favorite, but I've never gotten the impression the coaching staff (or at least Orgeron) has ever been particularly high on Brennan. (1) The moment Ed was named the permanent HC news surfaced that he started pursuing Tua. Now, I'm sure this had a lot to do with him assuming Kiffin was coming as OC, but the efforts were apparently strong enough to make Brennan (who had been committed for a while) reconsider LSU (at least briefly) (2) Brennan played some significant snaps for LSU in 2017, not just mop up duty. He went in to spring as the presumptive starter. Nonetheless, Ed, after spring ball, pushed hard to bring in a grad transfer to be the immediate starter. One that arguably had played less number of significant snaps in his career than Brennan (3) There have been games this season where Brennan could have arguably gotten in a bit earlier to get some work. Yet, the staff allowed Burrow to play deeper into the 4th when it probably wasn't necessary (4) There has been smoke about King to LSU for a few months. It might not and probably won't happen, but if the staff were 100% sold on Brennan you would have probably heard the news about King die down by now.

Is he a grad transfer? If not doesn’t he have to sit out a year?
