Can't imagine that happening. Coaches get paid millions of dollars a year. Any player who can top that is good enough to start on merit. Plus putting a worse team on the field is a good way to get fired even if you don't get busted.

Excellent post. I mean shite, who is the ultimate arbiter of playing time? The Head Coach. Even the stars aren’t going to have near enough endorsement money to bribe an SEC HC making millions a year.

And what is especially stupid about the original post—the stars with big endorsement deals AIN’T gonna be worried about playing time. That’s why they got the big endorsement money.

The original post was a dumbass post.

So they're basically like a realtor? Making money for basically doing nothing?

In your mind is the amateur status of the players what makes College football great?

In my eyes it’s the fact that I have a connection to LSU I will Never have to any professional team.

I dont Think this will open up the isssues you see in the pros. It may even fix the issues we see now. Players making money may be less inclined to sit out a bowl game if that brings bad PR to their sponsors.

Very perceptive. I never thought of this. I can certainly see big corporations making it a contract stipulation that the star play in the bowl game.

I think the NIL stuff is a nice compromise between the athletes getting nothing extra and them getting a preset stipend.

Also it’s gonna be extremely interesting to watch unfold.

Ok now apply that to 18-22 year old college kids and companies wanting to pay them and you see why businesses like matchpoint exist.

good for him and good brand to work with

What sucks is knowing the local sleaze ball injury attorneys will be involved with your favorite players soon.

The NCAA has it set up as as a free for all by design. They want it to blow up and have so much corruption so they can come in and regulate the hell out of in the name of “protecting the student athletes”

I think the players and the schools are doing a good job of implementing it. I believe they will handle it right and the NCAA won’t have the opportunity.

A walk-on should partner with walk-ons too.

they'll be petitioning the NCAA for a couple of extra years of eligibility, flopping in the first game of their last year trying to get a red shirt

Man, how much bank could Leonard Fournette have made at LSU?

Burrow could have went straight into retirement.

Nah

Fournette would have made 10x more than Burrow. Burrows blow up was all of a sudden in his last year.

Fournette had a cult following before coming on campus, and then the Buga stuff started

Tebow would have made millions on millions

Let’s say I am one of the 10 other players on the field with Stingly and I am not getting a deal like he is getting…..I might decide not to play as hard….get my drift….btw…..do you still get paid when you opt out?
