I think some of this negative impression results from the fact that a couple of threads on the Rant have been started with out-of-context quotes (specifically, from interviews with Peterson and Blackwell) that seem to paint a pretty negative picture of their feelings about the program. Once you read the entire articles from which these quotes are taken, and put them in the proper context, the picture doesn't seem so dark. In Lee's case, I agree with the poster that pointed out that his comments were very classy. He was obviously disappointed with the way his situation played out, but he didn't throw any rocks at Miles or LSU. I haven't seen anything from JJ, so can't comment.

so true, I believe some of the problem also was removed when they left, bad attitudes are cancerous in any program.
Exactly. Cancers gone; guys that want to be here like Sonic Sam will destroy the competition next year. I cannot wait!

Its understandable. They busted their arse for the program with the collective goal of winning the SEC and BCS title, only to watch the BCS objective go down in flames because their head coach put himself ahead of the program and university.

you are really stretching here dude. Not one player has stated or even implied that they are leaving on bad terms.
Didn't end the way they wanted but none of them are on "bad" terms
Our fans suck
*See Peterson's comments. See Lee's comments. See Blackwell's comments. Of course there is some animosity - it's clearly evident. Each one of the above stated *politely* dissed Miles. If you don't think that has an effect on recruiting or their mindset going into next season, you'd be dead wrong my friend.

March 31, 2012 can't get here fast enough, so people will look at 2012-13 instead of dwelling on Jan 9

I hate to bum you out but one of two things will happen, either mett is drew brees or there will be several guys fighting for QB time. if he is drew brees people will say whu didn't he play more last year. if there are several guys fighting for qb it will be jeff v lee all over again. this is not going away for a long time. I think if all the sunshine pumpers let the megatigers get it out things would not be so adversarial.

Dang, why the doom and gloom?
You know what effects recruiting more than anything else? WINNINGGGGGGGGGGG!!!
You know which BCS school has more wins since 2005 that LSU?? NO ONE!!!!
We got stuffed in the BCSCG and the players, coaches, and fans are not happy bout it...I'm shocked.
Take my word for it, LSU will have another successful season next year.
Hell, we have finished #1, #2, #3, #5, #8, and #17 since 2005...my god, that's not successful enough? What team did some of you guys follow before 2002? Most not have been LSU if you have ANY problem with the results from 2005.

I agree with you, Lonnie.
I posted this the other day:
Some LSU "fans" hate LSU. I don't get it.

The man could coach a team and go undefeated with our regular SEC schedule, and in OOC games, we could beat USC, OU, and Oregon, all in one season, win the west, win the SEC, go to the BCS NC game, win it, get another crystal football and it still wouldn't be good enough for some of you.
Some LSU "fans" hate LSU. I don't get it.

I don't think most fans are like the ones you see here on TD. This site has brought out the worst side of LSU.

Losing the very last game of the season/career is never easy. It leaves a bad taste and makes it harder to put the larger succeses in perspective.
many players have lost their last game and all has been fine.....it was the way/why they lost the game that will haunt them.

+1
not forever and likely not the diehards, but it will hurt with those on the fence.
what we need to keep an eye on is to see whether we get some transferring out of our program in the future...that will tell more

Bro, that isn't doom and gloom lol It's a reality check. Trying to maintain a perspective of the eternal optimist just isn't possible at the moment for *MANY* LSU fans.
I don't doubt that LSU will be successful next year - this was a humbling experience so I'm in agreement with you there. The fact remains that several players have (and more than likely several players will) air their dirty laundry and the secrets won't be secrets no mo'.
I - like you - am excited for what the future holds for this squad, but I - unlike you - believe we were given a shite sandwich with zero explanation. Given, CLM doesn't have to explain shite to me/us, but it's tough to take him at his word IMO until proven otherwise.
Finally, at least we'll have 1 QB who it appears we all believe in.

How can you say that LSU fans suck? Really you should check out some of the other teams fanbase and then you might change your mind. East Michigan in 2010 averaged 15,885 fans in attendance for their games. I think they would be pretty happy to have 100,000+ fans ranting about there team. Instead they are trying to fgure out a way to increase ticket sales and concession sales.
Posted on 1/26/12 at 3:29 pm to LSUlunatic
I agree. I hope that they all have success in their upcoming careers and don't remember LSU on those terms but all the fun and success they had.

Hey, I'm as pissed as anybody about the play-calling but tell me exactly how Miles "put himself ahead of the program and university".

Nothing overly negative or offensive. Just seems like players leaving one of the winningest programs in the nation would leave on a more positive note. That's all.
1) It was a horrible ending to a dream season (at the time)
2) More access to information, media than ever before.

Most people would not have a problem with a prepared team trying and failing.
LSU's coaches were not close to being prepared, and everyone in the country saw as much. The jokes being spread around on other message boards about LSU have absolutely nothing to do with LSU's fanbase. They are entirely at the expense of the coaching staff and players. You can't blame the players for being upset with the coaches.

You still don't "get it." It's so easy for you to turn on the players and absolve the coach, who is 100% responsible for what you saw on Jan 9th. From preparation, motivation and scheme, it's 100% on the staff. It didn't look to me no one was trying, it looked to me they were totally frustrated with the shitty plan and lack of adjustments.
