My money is Hilton is the best jumper on the team at 6’0”.

He might have misspoke, he could mean catch radius. Pimpton is 6-6 and has a hell of a wingspan

So far 85 thumbs up, 0 thumbs down. Now that's impressive!

He's talking about his vertical dude. with his additional wingspan it probably makes his vertical a big catch radius. Because of his wingspan he likely can catch the ball at the high point and no defender can really compete for the ball.

Sounds like he’s going to get a lot of playing time

Sounded to me like he was NOT going to get much playing time this season. He has been passed up by another freshman who has a complete game. I think if you see him in non-mop-up situations it will be on obvious passing downs. He is not ready to be a regular tight end.

I bet he becomes a great blocker too. Explosive as evident by his shot put and discus numbers

I may be the only one who doesn't care.

Blocking at TE is overrated and is a crutch coaches rely on that hinders overall offensive efficiency. TEs can only become elite at either receiving or blocking, and A TE receiving is much more valuable to an offense than his blocking. There are only so many Gronks in the history of the NFL.

The TE who gets the most PT should be the best receiver at TE. Full stop.

I get that, just think it's likely to be a pleasant surprise how strong he is and how it translates to other areas. His ability to separate could be crazy

Yeah I mean him becoming a great blocker would be ideal. He has a physical profile that makes that possible. It's just unlikely that he can develop at both while here, and we do NOT want him developing as a blocker at the expense of developing as a receiver.

That sort of development takes 2-3 years in the NFL (after 3-4 in college) with NFL coaching for most TEs to get competent in both. In CFB with CFB coaching limitations (both in terms of talent and time constraints), it's just unrealistic to think you can develop both since he'll only be here 3-4 years.

Don't think he needs to be a great blocker, just a competent one. He's supposedly put on 15 pounds since he's been here, so around 240 now. He can easily add another 10 pounds or so and become a good enough blocker to keep the defense guessing in 12 formations. Not saying this will all happen this year, but I also don't think he redshirts and think he'll be really well rounded by this time next year.

Put your athletes in a space where they can succeed. If he can catch and be explosive get him in the game. He’ll get coached up on the rest continuously. Look how much of a complete player Taylor week after week.

Theoretically, but it seems another guy who is more of a blocker is ahead of him for blocking.

Conservative coaches like Denbrock use TE blocking as a crutch and typically pick the better blocker at the expensive of offensive efficiency. That's my concern.

It is more an indictment of his rushing/run blocking schemes if he does revert to this crutch so we can run the ball.

With Taylor being the only returning scholarship TE, I think there will be plenty of game time for both Marckway and Pimpton.

Taylor, Markway, Pimpton, that's a deadly red zone package, especially once you consider that the defenses focus will have to key on Daniels and Nabers.

Saw one of his games in HS. He looked like a man among boys, & that’s against Texas 6A competition.
