Demetrius Byrd, what is he up to now?

In 2012 he was trying to come back in the NFL and now nothing....

“I appreciate LSU for this, they kept me on scholarship as long as they could because after I was released I didn’t have the money to go back to college, but LSU let me use my remainder of my football scholarship until it ran out.”
While working on his remaining credits, Byrd began thinking of pursuing a coaching career or perhaps something completely out of football. ”I had kind of given up on football because I had started to think that football just wasn’t for me.”
quote:
Since then, Byrd has been hard at work both at home in Miami with his friends, and in Baton Rouge with Elite Athletics and coach Tommy Byers. He says that he is doing things now that he never could have imagined doing again, and exceeding his previous bests.
“After three weeks, I ran a 4.7 40,” Byrd said. “And in the weight room, I’m maxing out at 315 and repping between 265 and 285 and that right there shows me that God wasn’t done with me and didn’t want me to give up.

Perhaps the biggest goal comes in May 2012. The now 25-year old Byrd wants to be ready for the NFL’s free agency period, with his LSU degree in hand.

Do it, bro. Damn I love stories like this.

Pretty sure he suffered some pretty bad head injuries in the accident that he never fully recovered from. Ended up going back to school to graduate.

The story you linked to is from December 23, 2011.

Exactly, what is he up to now?
He graduated in 2012 and was trying to come back. Was running pretty well according to the article.

I hesitate to call you a total POS for the above remark because you probably do not know the whole story. His car wreck was not his fault.

Yup looks like he's doing alright for himself. Always good to see tigers succeed, no matter what they do.

Cool that LSU honored his scholarship, I didn't think they could do that since he went "pro" though.

I used to see him at Bally all the time. That was about 4 years ago though.

quote:Straight from what I quoted in the article, so LSU put him back on his football scholarship until it ran out.
but LSU let me use my remainder of my football scholarship until it ran out.”
