Program success after replacing winning coaches:

Nebraska after Osborne - no
TAMU after Slocum - no
Alabama after Stallings - no
Texas after Brown - no
Florida State after Bowden - no
Michigan after Carr - no
Tennessee after Fulmer - no

LSU after Saban - yes
LSU after Miles - ?

Just a sampling off the top of my head. I'm sure there are other examples of finding good coaches to follow successful ones, but it's not easy and it is certainly not guaranteed.

Yeah u don't know anymore than the rest. His seat is hot now. He more than likely will be here next year, but that buy out is manageable over time if he loses out I think he's gone and should be.

Epic fail dude. It's on fire right now and about to be nuked.

It's the 5 game losing streak that people are mostly upset about.

This is the problem right here. Miles is the only coach in the SEC recently to have any kind of success against Saban. Do I wish we had broken that trend by now? For sure. But the other problem is that this whole program and fanbase has made turned football into a one game season against Alabama and if we don't win it, the sky is falling.
The entire fanbase and program needs to learn how to make it just like any other game, but we're incapable of doing that and will continue to let Bama stay in our heads.

I'd just about bet my mortgage that his seat is not legitimately hot right now. Is it "fanbase hot"? Maybe because the general fan is clueless on how things really work.

Hasn't beaten Bama in almost half a decade= only SEC coach with recent success?

Not to mention losing to an inferior Arkansas team (especially last year) so badly two years in a row?

A SEC record that has trended downward the last four years?

He's struggling and doesn't seem to be the same coach he used to be. It happens. He's the best coach in LSU history, but it has to end sometime. He'll get next year and he better do something with it.

At least you recognized this. Because I still say regardless of what happens this season he's not going anywhere yet.

Miles is gone this year if he steps down, he won't get fired

My prediction is Miles retires after next season

right

but if he loses out and he is told that he has to win and win big next year or he is out, then that means his seat is pretty warm at the end of this season

you don't get stipulations put on you for next season if you are not feeling any heat

this is where you are wrong

If this rumor about the boosters being willing to pony up the buyout is true, I wonder how much of a factor Fournette is in their desire to make a change now? We'll more than likely have 1 more season with him and maybe they feel like it will be wasted under the current regime.

Okay here's how college football works. Boosters are fans and they want to spend their money on LSU winning championships, so in that context Miles is on the hot seat plain and simple. He is losing the boosters support so don't act like no one here but yourself knows the inner workings of college football.
