Every single frat hazed back in my day. Yes there should be some line you don't cross, but these kids know what they are getting themselves into when rushing. Anyone who is truly surprised is delusional.

that is funny, back in the day @ USL Kappa Sig was on their last leg with the univeristy, during the homecoming parade they had a squirrel on a fishing pole and had kids up and down the parade route chasing it.... they got booted for a while after that

A male initiation process should always tear a man down to nothing and then build him back up as a member of the group or tribe. It should be challenging and difficult as a means to determine how serious the pledge is about belonging. Perhaps the officers of the national fraternity organizations need to develop pledging rituals that achieve the same thing without abuse.
