Multiple sources are reporting that LSU wide receiver Deion Smith will be heading to JUCO football this upcoming season.

Smith entered the transfer portal after the 2021 season and many believed he was headed to Ole Miss but academic issues reportedly kept him from transferring in the spring. He did not participate in LSU's spring football actiivies.
Guess we now know why he was still here. Shame, thought he had a lot of upside, but that’s one position that it definitely won’t hurt.

Seems like he may have really screwed himself. Hope his year in JUCO gets his grades back on track to spend another year in D1 and give him a shot at the draft.

Gotta wonder why he didn't just stay at LSU, unless he couldn't maintain academic eligibility here either.

I think that’s just it, here and or there hence going to JUCO.

He probably recently got his grades from this past semester and it wasn't looking good.

I’m not passing judgement on the kid but he came from extremely rough upbringing and it was a miracle he graduated high school. Listen to one interview and it’s easy to understand why he’s struggling majorly with academics, even with all the assistance.

He and Emory were studying together

Dude was going to be a star. Sucks hopefully he doesn’t get sidetracked on his route to juco and can make it where ever he chooses

Another lazy one I see

If he can’t get in to Ole Miss, his grades are really poor and there’s no way he would have been playing for us either.

Is he going to be academically eligible at JUCO to play football this fall?

Why? Who cares?

Two passes hit him in the hands in the endzone against Auburn last year. We win if he catches one of them.

He didn't agree with the process
