I think once Valentine gets in a little better shape that's gonna open up Key to blitz like hell.

Key has three sacks so far and he is pumped about that but he needs to get pumped about losing containment on running QB's. He has done that 4-5 times now from overrunning the QB.

Losing 20-25 lbs could not hurt and he would still be over 330.

during the wisconsin game they said he wants to lose 25 pounds in the next month.

Valentine's conditioning obviously isn't there. However, when he has played, he's been good.

he has been ok. When rested, he does take up space and get a little push but hasn't been the unstoppable force he was billed to be. When winded, which is most of the time, he doesn't do much of anything.

Arden Key said today that Aranda is finally implementing new phases of his scheme this week and that it's about to get fun.

We'll see...I haven't been in sheer awe of this defense just yet.

They are effective (especially considering that dumpster fire of an offense), but they don't appear to be shutdown either.

How can he be so out of shape. He just came through fall camp. Sounds like coaches aren't doing their job of making sure he is ready to play. I watched him for a bunch of plays Sat. Not impressed.

So much ignorance in this statement.

The Aranda defense may very well be good enough to salvage the season.

Remember the 2003 season. Matt Mauch rarely had to sustain a long drive because the defense and special teams often put the offense into really good field position.

Tv gets a solid push when he's rested. That's all we need from him. He's not gonna do a ton getting DT's all night like most 3-4 NT's. I have liked what v's seen from donnie Alexander so far

Every time I've really focused on valentine the whole play, he is getting great push even against two blockers.

Its also surprising how quickly he can get off blocks while in run support.

When has Miles ever messed with the defense?

It's not that he messes with the defense....It's that I don't trust ANY information coming out from the LSU football team. Les Miles is worse than Hitlery in that respect.

Valentine holds point of attack extremely well, often demands double teams to keep the C from getting pushed backwards. Gilmore doesn't.

I thought Ed Alexander played NG well against Jax St. I'd like to see more against SEC C's to see how well he fares.

I'd like to see Boutte at NG. I know. I know. Fans always want to see position changes. Trindon to DE.

There is practice condition and then there is game condition. He is a big sob and with 2 games under belt, conditioning should be there.

Not really. He spent his summer going to class and focusing on school work. When fall camp came around he still had to take 1 class everyday in the morning. As a result, he missed the vast majority of morning practices. It wasn't until 2 weeks before the first game where he was able to practice with the team fully. He's been running ten 110 yard gassers everyday after practice to get in shape.

He stands up and alows a lot of room for blockers to get to him , the good news is that he is strong and will learn ! , he seems surprized when pulling guards gets him from the side My advice to him is geaux low young Geaux low .
