I'm counting about 68 teams total when you add bubble teams to the mix. So that means 4 of the 16 are out if conference tournaments hold serve. LSU's chances are good in that scenario, even with a loss today.

Again though, 4 conference tourney upsets changes that number from 4 of the 16 to 8 of the 16 missing out. That's going to be really pushing it.

If we win today and lose to Florida, do we play the loser of the Arkansas game? Sounding like that 3rd game could decide our postseason fate

Tulane is up 6-1 on Houston in the 2nd inning.

a Tulane win could give a slight boost to our RPI.
Tulane now up 9-2 in the top of the 4th. Tulane is the visiting team in this game.

A mid major with a better record than LSU really doesn't mean much at all. If you played total crap teams 35 out of your 50 games, you better have a good record.

LSU has 12 "Group 1" wins. Only 12 teams in the country have more, and LSU can add to it's total by beating MSU today. If the ability to beat good teams is the biggest metric in the committee's decision (and it usually is) then LSU is ok there. Obviously, the inability to win away from home this season is killing them. No one in the top 50 has fewer road wins than LSU. One neutral site win over a group 1 opponent (MSU) would help. More than one would likely lock up a spot. It's the only way LSU can somewhat overcome that bad road record now.

I'm just a little worried if LSU doesn't look sharp in the MSU game that this turns into an in-game thread type melting place. Hopefully admins can help police it a little.

So Notre Dame beating Miami would boost our RPI some while hurting Miami's resume'?

It would give LSU's RPI a boost if ND won games, yes. Not enough to brag about though.

I'll try.

There will be a separate game thread.

Probably be close to a 6:00 start and will probably be driving home.

Yeah, I know. The melt will no doubt spill over into here the second MSU has a lead, or LSU walks a better, Slaughter strikes out, or CPM breaths though.

LSU could throw 10 perfect games, win every game by 10 runs, win the CWS and the first game lost then next season the fan base would want the coach fired.

Good list, but I think the Southland should be added to the list of tournaments to watch. Regular season champ Sam Houston is sitting at 50 in the RPI. If they win some games in the tournament, but get upset in the final, I think they might still get an at large bid, effectively stealing one of the at large spots.
