As rational as your post was, you completely disregarded a very important fact, again.

The biggest SEC game is televised mid day on CBS. All of our big home games are mid day on CBS.

Fair enough, point taken. I was not intentionally disregarding your previous post, I just thought it was irrelevant to this spat. Show me then any reporter, who has been on the field, coach, unbiased player ect, any quote that could support your claims.

As far as Erin Andrews, I just thought she would be a good honest judge. For she is a product of the SEC however she has been doing many UO games recently. She also was the point person at ESPN covering UO(such as the title game)so I thought she would be unbiased. It's not my fault she or ESPN have not been covering your biggest mid day games where as CBS does. But I am pretty sure she has still been to LSU much, probably recently or semi recently and she would know. My grand offer still stands, but only for her.

But good luck...

Erin Andrews

You are spending entirely too much time and energy defending your point. Do you think writing paragraphs about being on the field and not inthe stands is goin to change the minds of these alligator eatin, SEC worshiping rantahds?? Cuz you haven't changed my mind, and I have alot of respect for UO. How do you know Autzen is louder than death valley on the field? You haven't been in death valley at all.. And I'm too lazy to look up our record playing a home, but it's closely synonymous to yours, I'm sure. The bottom line is, there is more passion for southeast college football than anywhere in the country. Mix that with about 30k more fans and I can assure you, those QB's ears are ringing just as bad as they would in the landfill.

Why can't all the Webbed Ones and Striped Felines just agree to disagree on this one for corn's sake?
UO fans think Autzen is the loudest. And maybe for it's shape, size, seating arrangement, and number of fans that are able to get in (62,000?)
it is the loudest on those criteria.

LSU fans of course, think there is no louder, nuttier, majestsically rowdy place on the planet than Death Valley (especially at night).

I happen to subscribe to the latter; however I have never BEEN INSIDE of Autzen Stadium to watch a game there.

One thing makes me lean toward homerism. Day games. Why you say. Well, it is a 100% slam dunk given that a big night game in Tiger Stadium is one of the loudest, if not THE loudest places on earth.
But I harken back to two """"DAY"""" games in Death Valley that IMO were just as loud as ANY night games: 2003 Georgia, and 2010 Alabama.
If any of you were in attendance at both, as I was, I'm sure you can attest to that.
BTW, my first ever LSU game as a small Tiger Cub was Oct. 25, 1969 in the DAYTIME. LSU 21 Auburn 20.

Carry on...

ESPN has touted Duck field as the loudest, hands down.

1) Nike is Oregon-based, and Phil Knight is a big advertiser on numerous ESPN media outlets.
2) ABC televises Pac-10/Oregon games, and ABC/ESPN are Disney-owned, so they have incentive to hype
3) It is the different/cool/unexpected thing to do to select a smallish venue that is not a SEC/Big-10/etc venue - Also, Herbie and others at ESPN are always looking for a seemingly valid way to overlook LSU as the best at anything, inclusive of venue ratings. Furthermore, Erin Andrews is a Gator, and prefers not to select her home venue to take the high-road, and is certainly not going to say Tiger Stadium is better than Ben Hill Griffin, thus the "cool/different" selection that is in line with her companies money-making capacity, thus the Oregon pick.
4) People feel about the SEC like i felt about the Steelers/Cowboys/Dolphins growing up, and how most of the world feels about the US - they are sick of the reality that things SEC are clearly the best, thus angst runs amuck against LSU by association.
5) Autzen is legitimatley loud and electric, just not at the Tiger Stadium level

Those are the reasons why Autzen is cited by some as the premier/loudest venue for a college football game. Doesn't make it true, but it does make it logical. People don't seem to get it that logic is only an ingredient to the correct answer, and there are logical ways of justifying most things, but that does not make it the best answer. The best answer is what the overwhelming number of collegef football players/coaches/fans/media have consistently said for dozens of years now - LSU's Tiger Stadium is the epitome of the college football experience. Period.

I've never understood these types of posts...why?

Who can prove it's louder?
How do you prove it?
Oregon will say there's is louder
LSU will say there's is louder.

How does the argument get settled...and who cares anyway?

Boy 2007 had some deafening games - LSU-Florida,
LSU-Auburn, LSU-VaTech, even LSU-Arky.

LSU-UF was a classic. It had everything: night game, suspense, big plays, hard hits, USC announcement, Tebow & student section. Amazing night.

What I don't understand is why whether a game was a night or day game would change the sound level.

Because night games in Death Valley have a different feeling especially against big opponents. It's just a whole other feeling.

I don't think it makes a lick of difference at Autzen. Autzen is probably more of a home advantage for a day game actually due to the "East West" configuration of the stadium. At Autzen you run East West to get in the endzone. The sun can be a factor, plus we always put the opponent in the shade and try and let their recievers have to look into the sun in the 4th quarter. ;)

LOL, It use to be worse for visiting teams, due to the rain in Oregon the field use to have a very high crown so that QBs that weren't use to the field were continually throwing way to high on sideline routes. LOL

That got changed about 3 years ago. Now the crown is similar to other fields.
