With the amount of money and resources put into the program, LSU football should be in contention for the playoffs every year. We have instead settled for mediocrity since 1/9/12 and as an avid fan this has ruined my interest in the team. I think what you have said is not wrong at all, but my viewpoint on the matter is that we should not be settling for less as a program, golden age or not.

Nobody said it was the be-all and end-all or a goal to stop at 8. But frick. 8 wins a year for 18 straight years, good Lord, ENJOY your school's sustained football accomplishment. No one else, not even the oh, Holy Saban has done this at AlaBammer. I'm not necessarily a pumper, but damn, credit where it's due and it's LSU!! There's no need to be so damn miserable about every picking thing

I've enjoyed the ride since 2000 immensely. I'd take 2011 any day, til the cows cone home. But, I'm just not in a mood to "celebrate" 8 wins in an era where 13 games per year are available to be won.

South Carolina has 8 wins this year.

This is the 13th time in their 100 plus years of playing football. Should we give them a parade?

You just illustrated the point. Not in the way you intended.

Brah look around.. Storied historically great SEC powerhouses are shattered and lost with almost no sign of hope... We had a first year coach start 20+ true freshman And the Tigers are still competing at a high level. Smell the damn roses.

Yours is a false dichotomy. We are not “ settling “. None of us went into a room and signed a contract and agreed to “ settle” for eight wins . We ALL want 15-0. But we don’t get to sign an agreement for 15 wins either .

Nobody was more butthurt about 1/9/12 than me . But this idea that we can’t all agree that an EIGHT WIN FLOOR & TEN WIN AVERAGE, while playing the toughest conference opponents in the country, punctuated by 6 championships ( conference and national) is not something to be proud of is folly and hubris. It’s the difference between looking back with gratitude or looking back with entitlement. That’s a personal choice.

LSU accomplished eight victories for the 18th-straight season, marking the longest in SEC history

On behalf of every single poster on tRant, I would like to sincerely thank Les Miles for making this happen through his leadership and coaching genius.

Why would you say never happy? What’s wrong with raising the bar and having higher standards than 8 win seasons? What’s been lsu’s Lowest recruiting class the last 15 seasons? The talent is superb to not have more SEC titles and National titles.

The only team with more SEC and Natty titles than LSU during this time is Bama.... 3 SEC titles and Two Natties is damn good. what other power 5 team in the nation can compare? Florida maybe.. but now look at them.. not even making a damn bowl game!

Within the SEC, you’re correct. But, what about Ohio State and Clemson? There are others that have been more national contenders with consistency. Think about where LSU would be if they would have won both games that they were favored in (MSU, Troy) at the end of the day, it’s frustrating.

Obviously you don't understand. Any appreciation for team accomplishments or pointing to positives is "settling". Any discussion of the future of the program is "next year U".

And, and the appropriate rhetorical response to any and all discussion is "but Troy".

No doubt it is frustrating... But Clemson has one Natty and Ohio state has one as well... LSU has TWO with one against a Tressel coached Buckeye team that was hyped as the greatest of all time.

We have? Seems to me there has been much anger over the last five years about the decline that started post 1/9/12.

12 regular season games. So, think of it as "7 wins a year" for 18 years if you grew up watching LSU in the 70s and 80s. 7-4 as the norm got Chollie Mac run.

But you added more sec games. That's why I don't like this argument. In theory, the schedules are tougher. You play more conference games than you did in the past.
