the 1-0 loss i can stomach. at least we pitched. the 11-1 loss, WTF. unacceptable.

also eventhough it was two midweek games..31 runs in 3 games? what in the world?

Agreed. Not sure what was up with that one.

Eta: well the good thing about that is that we have two great starters on Friday and Saturday and then hopefully McCune figures it out or Nola steps up to be the Sunday guy. And that's almost all we need for sec and postseason play
I am a little worried about our closer though.

The sad thing is I'm not reacting to the losses to appy St, I've watched the whole team play and they do not impress me.

I'll leave it at that.

Damn, I question what the offensive production can be and welcome the emergence of a middle reliever and closer, but this Debbie Downer boo hoo shite is starting to make the fan base look like clowns. I don't believe the program is going down the shitter this season, but it might not be reflective of past championship years, either. Man up, too much baseball left to play to sit on the ground crying 'cause someone stole your Joey Belle card.

Dude, they definitely shouldn't take 2/3 or blow us the frick out of our own ballpark.

This is the same shite our fanbase does when a QB lights us up. "Oh, he's really awesome adn will be one of the best QBs we face all year."

t's not like Arkansas-Pine Bluff or some other bottom feeder in the SWAC came in and did that to LSU.

No, but we did just give up 20 runs in 2 games to teams like that.

Normally, I'd agree. But it's the same problems. No hitting, no bullpen, terrible 3rd base coaching, and terrible hitting approach.

Too early to start panicking like many are.

I don't think so because this is the same team minus MM.

THIS. I wouldn't be too concerned if we had come out sunday and whooped arse. But we barely won on Friday, got shut out on SAt, and got blown out of our own ballpark on SUN. I don't care that Appy st. has improved. That shouldn't even happen if we were playing rice, let alone a SoCon team.

Re:Dartmouth Baseball

First, I'm sure those guys on the team are just damn glad to be in Baton Rouge rather than back at school. I live 30 miles from the Dartmouth campus and we have 13 inches of new snow on the ground since yesterday afternoon and 6-8" more expected by midnight.

For a preview of the Dartmouth team about to play their first game of the season, in "fabled Alex Box Stadium" this is a great look:

There are plenty of MLB teams with proven players that get embarrassed multiple weekends over the course of a season. I don't think things are perfect, but some of these guys have to be better with a year of experience under their belts. Bertman is not coming back, the closest thing to him is over at USCe and he isn't coming to BR.

To build on top of how good Dartmouth was; they had similar records in 2010 and 2009 and made the NCAA tourney. Formidable OOC opponent IMO.

But it will be their first games of the season, should give us a decided advantage.

He thinks that if he keeps saying it, it will somehow become true. I think he's posted that 10+ times.

Retarded argument. That's like saying NFL teams get upset all the time, so LSU shouldn't feel too bad about losing to UAB.

The difference in talent level between LSU adn Appy St>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>talent level difference between MLB teams.

You really think it isn't true? The only difference is our FRI/SAT starters are slightly better than they were last year.

We can win some games because of them, but I just don't see it happening with the bullpen.

I'll ban myself another two weeks if this team reaches 30 HRS. anybody want that bet?

And we have more pitching depth, a great new pitching coach, Jared Foster inserted in the lineup. A catcher that is sure to hit better than he did last year. Hopefully an improved Jacoby Jones......yep same team

That was an awesome write-up. Seriously.

One thing that stuck out was that for 4 years in a row Dartmouth has signed a recruit who was drafted, but chose to go to school. Obviously that's common for LSU, but it can't be that common for an Ivy team, or for most lower tier D1 schools.

How is he "sure" to hit better this year?

Well, we probably have two first rounders pitching on Fri. and Sat. this year so, to say they are slightly better is understating it a bit, because I think the rotation as a whole is one of the best in the country.

I can understand anyone who questions the bullpen, but I believe that we have some guys who can be very good coming out of the pen.

Now, we don't have a lot of power and we will probably be around 25-35 home runs but we already knew that, heck PM said as much. We are going to have to come thru with hits when it matters most with two outs and runners in scoring position.

We will be in all of our games, we don't need to hit the cover off the ball to win, if we can be middle of the pack in the SEC I still believe we will win a lot of games!

Well, he hit near the mendoza line all last year, he started out this season pretty well (small slump after the injury), it'd be pessimistic to think he wouldn't be better.
