Make “Hurts” beat you!
Posted by LSUBASEBALL00 on 10/22/17 at 11:52 am
If I am Dave Arranda I come in with a gameplan that centers around making Jaylen Hurts beat me with his arm. Hurts is a good QB especially when he can use his legs, but a polished passer he is not.

LSU will win another national title soon an Mississippi State will still have zero. There is no past, present, nor will there be any future champions in Starkville!

National Champions are not made in Starkville Mississippi, National Chumps are!
MSU and National Champions don't belong in the same sentence.
Unless you were to write it like this: In June 2013 UCLA defeated Mississippi State for the national championship! Then it would be appropriate!

Hey BobLeeDagger:
Got a question for ya!
Do you know if Andy and the other coaches at State have bonuses in their contract when they get players to commit and actually show up to MSU to play for four years!
If not they should it's gotta be almost impossible to get kids to show up for four years in Starkville. "A place with no atmospher, and where the beauty parlor only gives estimates" Stanley "Skip" Bertman! :geauxtigers:

MSU fans
LSU Baseball is greater than MSU not just my opinion but national baseball guys have back it up!
The minute MSU gets their new park open, I would bet TAF and Bertman will already have a plan to out do any stadium that may stand in Starkville.

How could I forget the oasis that is Baton Rouge...please...
Also, Andy doesn't give a frick about y'alls championships 10 years ago. He has everything that LSU has at his disposal to win a NC at State. Y'all keep bringing up this notion that past NC's will somehow help you win one in the future. I hate to break it to you, but MSU's program has a much brighter future than LSU's. Now please, defend CPM and tell me how y'all are going to be better than us in the next 5 years.
How many baseball titles does MSU have............
Zero
Champions are not made in Starkville Mississippi!
Andy may be your coach for a long time and win a lot of games but if I had to venture a guess he won't be their forever.
He may not end up at LSU, but he will end up out of Starkville in the next five years just my opinion. Lots of great places to coach college baseball for a man like Andy, and they are all better than say it with me Starkville Ms.
As for LSU we may be headed for a rocky finish to our season and maybe Paul won't be here in a few years but it's will turn around quickly no doubt.
Why you may ask?
Because we have the want an ability to hire a top tier coach, recruit top tier kids, and pour more money and resources into our program than any program in the nation.
LSU BASEBALL will always be a top tier program and is better than MSU any day of the week.
Must be terrible to have to be a MSU fan, so glad I was born a Tiger! :geauxtigers:

Stole him hardley Lol ??!
You guys gave him a shot at being a head coach with higher pay than we would pay him as an assistant of course he took it.
Of course he is happy where they sign his checks! That doesn't mean he won't bolt first chance he gets!
Again MSU is MSU, and it's located in Starkville Mississippi!
You guys have a nice little baseball program over there!
But here in BR we have a program who's goals are a little higher with much more resources at our disposal.
?? Lol MSU fans are so funny! :geauxtigers:

I know most MSU fans have a hard time with this but MSU is not only a place you don't win championships but now say it with me......it's in Starkville Mississippi!
Not a place you want to spend a career. LSU baseball history, facilities now and future, championship potential, Baton Rouge, and TAf money is greater than anything MSU can offer.
Just because MSU is in the SEC they are not even in LSU's ballpark in regards to athletics and never will be!

MSU new stadium will be the nicest in college baseball no doubt.......but only for a short time.
By that time the New Box will be ten years old and ready for improvements that will no doubt make it the best facility in the country!??
MSU has a great baseball program and history but I highly doubt TAF, Skip Bertman, and influential LSU baseball people will allow MSU and Starkville Mississippi to have any leg up in facilities for long!?? I mean Starkville "is an old Indian word for trailer park" Stanley "Skip"Bertman.
If we offered Cannizaro he would come. You don't win college baseball titles in Starkville, you win them in Baton Rouge!
As for the next LSU coach Cannizaro would be a good choice but I think Tim Tadlock would be the guy I would contact.

Can the person I hire as my offensive coordinator implement an offense that will allow me to beat Alabama?
Matt Canada seems to be more pro style, run oriented.
We already know you don't run the ball on Bama to beat them!

Non Conference Schedule Baseball
Posted by LSUBASEBALL00 on 3/20/16 at 11:05 am
Everyone knew this baseball team had a lot of new faces this year! Paul once again did them no favors with our non conference schedule. Cincinnati, Sac St, Fordham, Ball State. Now there is a schedule that will prep you for SEC baseball! I believe we will be a much better team in May than now,but it may not be enough to make a regional a la 2011! This team is getting ready to take its lumps two of the next three weeks @ A&M and home against Vandy. That's a schedule that could dig us a big hole!
“When you have players that have not played in these kind of environments that much, sometimes they have to make mistakes to learn and to be able to grow and we did,” Mainieri said. “You can always learn, but we’re not trying to learn. We’re trying to win. And sometimes making those mistakes can prevent you from winning.”
Maybe you needed to really test these young guys early, even try to play a series out on the dare I say road away from the "BOX" Paul! Instead of playing games that don't prep you for SEC!

Our out of conference slate may not be as weak as it appears at first glance.
Here is what Aaron Fitt from D One Baseball says about it:
Question: As an LSU fan I get tired of seeing non conference schedules that look like this Cincinnati, Sacramento St., Fordham, and Ball St. That schedule is not going to get the young bats ready for the SEC! What more can be done to help further encourage big time programs to schedule good in the non conference?
Fitt’s reply: Actually, I think Sacramento State and Ball State are both going to be regional teams this year — and both have a number of guys who should be drafted. You’re catching those teams at a good time — they won’t hurt your RPI, and they’ll give you a nice test. Be careful what you wish for though — both of those teams have enough talent to steal a game or two in Baton Rouge if LSU isn’t careful. Cincinnati is still light on the mound, but that team has some talented young players in the lineup — they were very freshman-heavy last year.
So, while it may not be a great non conference schedule it may have a little more in it to help prepare some of the young guys for the SEC schedule than many of us think.
Now, I would expect some growing pains at the plate, but remember these players were not recruited here because they couldn’t hit, so by the end of the year I expect our lineup to be much better than it will be in March.

Sun. Sept 20th- LSU had just played it's best game of the year against Auburn! Everyone in the media and on message boards proclaims that LSU is one of the best four teams in college football!
Fast forward two weeks!
We all witnessed a very lack luster performance against an out manned Eastern Michigan team. Everyone is now out saying this team is terrible the sky is falling and the season is over!
Now, I will agree with everyone that says this team has things that need to get better and better in a hurry.
But while things were not as good as everyone proclaimed on Sept 20th, I will argue that things this morning are not as bad as they appear!
This team has not been focused the last two weeks! Many will say that is inexcusable. I agree with anyone who would say that!
But just because it is inexcusable doesn't mean it's not understandable. This team is still very young and they all heard the last two weeks how good they were, and how bad the teams they were playing against were. So, they just rolled out on the field and expected victory, instead of playing with the same intensity they played the first two games of the season!
My point is two weeks ago we weren't as good as people said, and this morning we are not as bad as so would say! The SEC schedule will separate us as a pretender or contender. This team can be whatever it wants to be 7-4, 9-2, 10-1,11-0. It doesn't matter what Kirk Herbstriet says, Tim Brando, Andy Staples, Stewart Mandel, the AP poll, Coaches Poll, or anyone on the Tiger Rant says. The ball is in this teams court and I think we can all agree their is enough talent there, especially when #7 is on our side.

SEC network is on channel 404 on dish, they have 3 channels, one main, and 2 alternates. this game will NOT be on one of these. It will be on SEC plus, which is the internet. I've never seen anything on a alternate channel.
The Alt channels for the SEC Network on Dish, did in fact show games last year (Texas A&M Lamar is one that comes to mind). LSU v.s. Mcneese will be on the SEC Alt on 9/5 as will several other games.
The Alt Sec channels however do not seem to serve any other purpose on Dish as they did not offer alternate programming during any other sports season within the SEC.

LSU Baseball in Houston on ESPN 3?

Just checked the ESPN 3 schedule for the weekend and did not see the LSU Games listed. I know the games are on CST but thought that ESPN 3 would cover them as well? They were listed earlier in the week!

I think Les needs to look to Auburn for our offensive solutions.
Auburn loves to run the ball and yet they are very simplistic and allow their athletes to make plays!

Do we a Gus Malzahn approach?
Posted by LSUBASEBALL00 on 9/21/14 at 11:02 am
When hearing analyst talk about Gus Malzahn and the spread run attack he likes to run at Auburn I am struck by how simplistic it seems to be. They have variation on a handful of plays and yet they are very successful on the offensive side of the ball. Now in regards to LSU I believe Les Miles and Cam Cameron’s style of offense can work, if you have a quarterback like Zach Mettenberger. However this year we have Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris who are not pro style quarterbacks, and while I have not seen any of their high school film, I would be willing to bet most of their high school offenses employed some type of spread principles that are being run at high schools everywhere.
With that said I believe the spread in particular the style run by Malzahn needs to be something that Miles takes a hard look at! It would simplify the offense and allow our quarterbacks and other great athletes to make plays, while still being able to play a smash mouth running style that Miles likes. Now I realize that these wholesale changes cannot be made all within the course of this season, however I believe the biggest thing we can do is scrap every snap from under center and run everything out of the shot gun. We are asking our QB’s to do things they have never done before and are not suited to do, it’s like fitting a round peg in a square hole it just doesn't work!

Thanks for clarifying a bit. Certainly could be a factor in their bloated offensive stats.
ULL is a very good team, they took two of three from an Alabama team that leads the SEC and beat us!
However, it probably wouldn't be to much to think some of their offensive production is due to the level of competition they face on a week in week out basis especially in their conference and I think they would be a great offense in any conference but I don't think they would be putting up the crazy numbers they are now if they were in the SEC!
In regards to their bats being illegal, who knows. I do know that coaches and players all across the country are looking for any edge they can get, including at LSU!
I am more curious to see how ULL's potent offense translates in the postseason against better pitching, and if they were able to make it to TD Ameritrade Park, what if any adjustment they could make to be successful there because that is a park where home run teams will turn into nothing more than warning track power teams!

Mainieri's recent history in past Thursday games seems to suggest that Nola may not pitch Thursday, and go on his normal rest. If I had to guess, Glenn gets the start Thursday, with Nola and Poche going Fri. and Sat.
LSU Baseball Next Two Series Set the Tone!
Posted by LSUBASEBALL00 on 3/15/14 at 10:12 pm
Vanderbilt is going to dominate a lot of SEC baseball teams not just LSU, so lets don't go write the season off because we lost two of three in Nashville!
The next two weeks are critical for this baseball team. Georgia is an improving club, but they are nowhere near Vanderbilt on the mound. Hopefully, the Tigers can return to the Box and get the bats going next week anything short of two out of three would be disappointing. Then, they take the road to Florida, who is a quality club, but again you need two out of three on the road.
I look for Poche to continue to improve as the year goes on. Today was not his day, but Nola had a similar rude awaking against Miss St. a few years ago at the Box and by the end of the year was the number two starter, starting big games at South Carolina, and against Stony Brook at the Box in the Super. Hopefully, Poche puts this behind him and continues to develop, I believe he will. It wouldn't surprise me if he is the Saturday starter in a few weeks, maybe as soon as the Arkansas series to start April at the Box.
The question to me is the number three starter. Bowman pitched ok after the first inning today, but he is not going to overpower or fool anybody and Glenn has not been anything near what he was last year, and he had some ups and downs then! If one of these guys doesn't step up, maybe this will be the opportunity for a Brady Domangue, you can tell Paul really likes the guys attitude and work ethic when he speaks about him, so if he can peace together a few good starts maybe he ends up being our number three guy.
To early to make any real solid judgments on this team, but we have a schedule that sets up favorable for us the next month. There are no easy wins in the SEC. We won't be playing a team as good as Vandy till the SEC tournament or later their arms are maybe the best in the nation. So, you gotta think even at worst if you can win with Nola on Friday, you can find a way to at least steal one game on Sat. or Sun. to win some series.
