This is insane. Last year’s defense was the worst ever, this year is a step above that and it’s therefore a good hire?

Nothing He called would have stopped Bo channeling Johnny Football.

The D also had plenty of 3 and Out in second half and in the 4th….while LSU had the lead. It’s not his fault the OC didn’t call 1 running play in the 4th

We rank 112th nationally in third down conversion defense. Going into this past weekend, we blitzed less than anyone in the conference and almost less than anyone in the country. We have had a total of 1 sack in two conference games. I encourage anyone to go look up our defensive stats, both in the conference and nationally. We are better than last year but by no means is it "good."

They’re better, but in the 2 games that truly matter, the defense has worn down in the second half. A lot of that is on the offense’s inability to sustain drives and keep the defense off the field.

But I still don’t know if this guy is good at making second-half adjustments. I will give him credit they the defense settled down to deliver 2 3-and-outs in the 4th quarter. But they couldn’t get off the field on the last drive, probably because of fatigue.

LSU is 124th in the nation in giving up 12.5 pts per 4th quarter. LSU is giving up 426.5 yds/gm which is #89 in the country. 287.5 passing yards per game (#113) & giving up 53.03% conversion rate on 3rd dn which is #123 in the nation. None of that is winning football and isn't going to cut it. This whole regime needs to be fired except for Corey Raymond.

With these stats and people saying, oh, he is doing a great job. Sheesh. People set the bar really low. Sorry, participation trophies don't count in football.

If this defense wasn’t horrible on 3rd and 4th down we would have another win or two

Nix didn't run wild because of scheme. nix ran wild because of poor tackling. He dodged numerous sacks. Daronte doesnt deserve any bad takes. Bring all that energy to Peetz and his lack of running the football when auburn only rush 2 freaking lineman

We are 65th in Total Defense. When we have good defenses, we were easily Top 20, sometimes Top 10 or 5 under Chief and Aranda.

Look at the experience he has surrounded himself with.

O - steps in on Dline
Baker - Linebackers
Raymond - Secondary

That's alot of experience. I'd be worried if they couldnt get it together.

For the most part, we did. If we do better tackling and not let him get out of those 4th down scrambles, it's a completely different ball game. I'm putting those on the players.

No it was not a good hire. LSU is not built to be on the job training program.

We havent played anybody, that would warrant a statement like that

UCLA made him look like a high school coach, and they may not even be an average team

Moo St wins that game if they dont jump on top of somebody during their last punt. He couldnt stop Leach in the 2nd half

Bo Nix may possibly be the greatest QB in the history of college football, after watching Bo against his defense

And we are just now into the meat of our schedule

Agreed based solely on the difference between this year's D and last year's.

Consider this

There hasn’t been a team that has beaten LSU’s corners on the outside yet this season

Ok, so that is great. Actually, amazing. You are cutting off almost half the field.

With that being the case, how hard is it play the middle of the field with the players you have? They’ve done ok at times. The run defense vs aub compared to UCLA was night & day.

But the silly shite with Bo Nix Saturday night was never corrected in game. The TE is still consistently beating LB & S’s, just as they did in the UCLA game.

If your corners are shutting down all outside throws, this Def should be in the top 30 with the competition it has played

Agree....I've seen a HUGE jump from last year to 5his year and steady improvement each week. People will point out letting Bo Nix run wild....he's now scheming without 2 of his biggest play makers AND with an offense who can't control the ball to save their life. Daronte has some serious headwinds and is still doing a solid job
