Yes, more unneeded QB banter. But I just watched some of his ASU highlights for the first time. Other than loading up a bit, he does really well with throwing the deep ball. He has a big arm and seems to do a good job of leading his receiver with accuracy. That, plus his speed and shiftiness does get me excited for him to be the starter this season. Can’t wait to see why he does with these pass catchers.

Have you seen the deep pass he threw to himself where as soon as he let go he outran the entire defense and caught it for a touchdown?

It was called back because of an illegal formation but it was still really impressive.

They are HIGHLIGHTS. They only show the good passes. Every bad QB LSU has had looks great in his highlights.

Doesn’t negate that he can throw a good deep ball.

Kelly praised him on his deep ball during Saturday’s post scrimmage press conference.

I’ve never seen quarterback highlights that don’t look great. I’ve watched 6th grade basketball highlights that you would swear they drain every 3 every time. If you watch all the shots instead of the highlights, it’s a different story.

Some people actually know sports and can pick up on certain things. I remember watching Anthony Jennings HS highlights and being like “uhhh ok”, even though I was pulling for him. Same for Arch Manning, his highlights are full of 5 yard runs and screen passes. Some dudes just flash, you either can see it or you can’t. Also the all time winningest college football coach praised Daniels for his deep ball a few days ago, but I’m sure you know more with your unfounded and bewildering cynicism and negativity

This is true. Highlights of players almost always show the TD or INT or sacks.
They never show the bad stuff.

When the highlights show 15 fifty yard bombs compared to our qbs in the past like Jennings who had maybe 5 , you know there’s a difference

This is a Dude that completed 65.4% of his passes his last year at ASU. Not sure where this thought that he can’t throw comes from? THIS IS NOT JORDAN JEFFERSON!

This is really weird.

There’s literally zero evidence to say Nuss is better. He played really badly against Arkansas and that’s all the game tape that we have.

I’m rooting for him. I want him to excel. Hell, I’d love for him to win the Heisman.

But right now, the media that has watched practices and the coaches have all either directly said or alluded to Daniels being a little better.

Once again, I’m rooting for both guys……but can you cite one piece of objective evidence that shows that Nuss is better?

Jennings did have a nice touch on some throws. Problem was he didnt drive it in there when he needed to

So you are making your point by saying you aren't impressed with the consensus #1 overall QB recruit in the country. Interesting.

My concern is the overthrows on short to intermediate routes that lead to interceptions...

The hope is that he is in a much better teaching environment for those type of throws (sort / intermediate). And that goes for both J and Nuss.

Throwing a nice deep ball is great. But… what separates really good QB play from Average QB play is being able to read defenses effectively, and be able to throw very accurate short and intermediate passes (especially over the middle) in a place where the receiver can easily obtain YAC. Much harder than it looks.
