What do you think he would he had done if Nuss had announced a transfer in December & Daniels still had come back?

I think he would have stayed knowing the job would be his to lose in 24

Next season will be a repeat of QB play from this past year.

So we will beat Bama and win the west 2 years in a row? I’ll take it.

Maybe but he knew Nuss was going to be here that long when he committed.

That’s true, but I suspect he didn’t realize he would be that far behind Nuss developmentally. If he thought now he would be able to compete with Nuss long term there would be no reason to leave. He could compete for QB2 this season and to be the starter in 2024.

You'll also take 4 losses?

He may have left this year because of Daniels, but he would have left next year anyway because of Nuss. All Daniels staying has done has created a 2023 depth chart of Daniels/Nuss instead of Nuss/Walker. Walker was not going to stick around 2-3 more years waiting for Nuss to move on.

Maybe but he also knew he was one injury away from starting as the backup.
Being 3rd string and running scout team for 2nd straight year he wasn't willing to do.

Nuss will still be on the team in 24’. This is the OP’s point.

He said JD staying had nothing to do with WH leaving.

Sure, and there hasn't been a more logical or factual opinion offered to counter.

The logical explanation is that Howard is just a spoiled brat who thinks he’s better than he actually is and should be starting over two QBs who have proven themselves to both be better options currently than he is.

Reality is, if JD had left, Howard would have been number 2 and probably (but not guaranteed) would still be at LSU.

But one could also make the argument that if Nuss had not looked as good as he has the past few games, Howard might be more confident about beating him out and would have stayed even though JD returned. You could make the argument that given how well Nuss played, Howard now realizes that Nuss will most assuredly be the starter for the following 2 years after JD leaves making it 3 years before Howard has any real chance of being the starter.

In my opinion, Howard left because of a combination of all 3. He’s a spoiled brat who thinks he should be playing, JD cane back, and Nuss is looking like a potentially good QB.

Haven’t seen a good Ironyking melt in a while. Never seen someone that accuses others of literally what he’s doing so often and so well

I also love how defending a QB who had a great statistical season, lead us to the SECCG and a much better season than anyone thought makes it a “cult”

From a team still rebuilding from the decimation that the dipshit shrimp boat captain left it in? You bet. Especially given that one of those losses was to the national championship winning team in the SEC championship. I also don’t think we lose 4 next year. I think 3 is the max we lose next year.

I'm going with that Howard felt he couldn't beat out Nuss and possibly thought that even Collins might pass him up.
And we have another top QB prospect coming in the next year.

I'm with the Kim Mulkey concept when Kramer was considering transfer after his sophomore year. If you're good enough to play here, then stay, if you're not you need to transfer.

I have no problem with a player who has given it there all, but realizes starting at LSU is not in the cards for them, but wants to play.

Honestly, who gives a shite why the little fricker left. He’s of no concern to LSU anymore. The odds are not in his favor that he will be a great QB (given that there are so few that do make a significant impact in the NFL).

Maybe, but when you prefer the transfer portal to homegrown talent, writing on the wall!BK better start concentrating on Louisiana more than transfer temps!

Because Bama and Georgia only focus on “homegrown talent”. Have they had a QB from their own state in the last 10 years start for them?

Yeah LSU should have gone with “homegrown talent” over Joe Burrow.

GTFO with this shite. You don’t pass up better options just because there is a player from your state that you could bring in.

Brether I lose no sleep losing a QB. This is what happens to good teams that recruit well. LSU can add one just as easily as they lose one.

If the defense and special teams play as badly as they did in those losses this year, then no QB on our roster is preventing LSU from having 4 losses again.

This was my first thought, the best QBs we’ve had for 2 decades were all out of state
Burrow
Mettenberger
Flynn
JaMarcus
Mauck
Davey

Who’s the last really good La QB we’ve had Tommy Hodson? Herb Tyler maybe
