Interesting article,

quote:

He is one of the most talented to ever play high school football in metro New Orleans.
His senior season, he touched the ball 69 times and scored 27 touchdowns. But all Joe McKnight is remembered for in his home state is that he didn’t sign with LSU.

quote:

“I wish I could do that differently about choosing a school and college,” he said. “I still would have picked USC, but I would have never come in with the USC colors on. I think that is what made LSU fans mad, because I came on with the colors.”

quote:

McKnight said he enjoyed playing for Carroll, but missed the intense work ethic of the John Curtis football program. “Coming into my senior year, Coach J.T. was still slapping my head at practice.”

When McKnight arrived at USC, he said he was shocked that he was competing against “so many tailbacks.”

Three years later, McKnight departed with no Heisman Trophy and no national championship.

A fourth-round pick of the Jets, he vomited during his mini-camp debut.

Yeah, according to "the blind side" movie Michael Oher too. Oh well he didn't stay now he's Tiger bait.

If AU didn't pay Cam, MOO St would have had a great year.

All part of growing up......

The kid who left for home for California has grown up, but he will never outgrow the question. “When they meet me, first thing they ask, ‘Why didn’t you to go to LSU?’”

For all the tears on this board back then, I think most LSU fans really don't even care about what he did or what he might have done. Turned out to not be that big a deal for either us or USC.

Huge indictment of Pete's program.

I don't think we missed out much on losing McKnight. Solid college player but not a dominant performer or player of the ages type.

And what I've read of Saban, sounds like his act had started to grow old on some of the players who were here, and some considered transferring. Not sure if true, but I'm not sure Saban's style works well over the long haul. I appreciate what he did to turn our program around, but it was probably about time for him to move on when he did.

Was he living in a cave? I think everyone here knew he was being steered in the wrong direction. But by whom is the question. Most point to the coach of JC.

I hear he hates LSU. But doesn't everyone?

He has become a non-issue with LSU fans since LSU won a NC while he was at USC and USC didn't. A lot of LSU fans feel like they got the last laugh since he went to USC to play for championships.

yeah, maybe that or maybe the fact that he was lying about even considering LSU the whole time and then he and JT Curtis cried about how LSU fans are such meanies.

Not a bust. Probably worthy of a low 4 star.

Not the player everyone expected him to be, that's for sure.

I kinda figured that anyhow considering where he came from.

He was mislead by the JC staff and illegal recruiting going on.

He told LSU to go frick themselves. If he never gets a job in the state of Louisiana he'll know why.

True. It still bugs me that some of these KIDS are being steered in the wrong direction from other peoples personal agenda.

In related news, if the Nazis hadn't tried to invade Moscow in the winter, they might have won the European theater in WWII.
