reading DD's thanksgiving column has become something that I really look forward to every year to kick off the holiday season...have to admit that I got a little choked up reading his final farewell...

A true LSU MVP am sad to hear this news for a humble, gentle and generous man. Praying that Don and his family have peace and comfort in this most difficult time.

Wow..my father and I were just talking about him just yesterday.. No one bleeds purple and gold as much as Dandy Don .... So sorry to hear .. He's always answered me when I wrote to him for the last 10 or so yrs... Prayers to him and his family...

I was never an avid DD reader because I found this place first. It's through TD that I first heard of Dandy Don. It was then and now unbelievable to me how committed he was to update his site so frequently and consistently.
Many times on here Don's opinions have been bashed, but without a doubt, NO ONE questions his passion for LSU. Obviously, he feels that same passion and more towards his family and friends.
If it's DD's time to go, there's no Tiger fan who deserves an undefeated season more than him. Hope we can give it to him.

I remember reading Dandy Don back in Prague around 1998 I had just read a copy of In the Electric Mist by James Lee Burke and being homesick as hell for my State and The Tigers, Dandy Don brought me back every day for the last year I was there.

Although I've never met him, I feel as though I know him because his page has been a part of my daily routine for many years now.
Always sad to see the end of life approaching for such a faithful and caring family man. The only joy is that he will be going to a better place.
