Very hard to defend.

The defender responsible for Mason had to go slightly around the other 2 Bama defenders, which cause that 1 degree of separation needed. The LSU WR's did an excellent job of rubbing the defenders just enough to clear Mason.

Hindsight I’m glad we let him get off before snapping. Think the penalty yard wouldn’t have give us as much an advantage as bama seeing our play setup and trying to adjust
But, the play would have still been ran and counted had LSU scored. The penalty would have allowed LSU a redo if it didn’t work. The fans wanting the snap to occur with 12 men on the field for Bama were right.

And I cannot say enough about Jayden's decision making on that play. If he tucks and runs it he may not make it because 42 on bama was spying him and if one of the WRs or Mason does not make their blocks JD probably gets tackled behind the line. Incredible recognition by Jayden.
This. While the throw wasn't perfect, it was Daniels's quick decision to throw it, and his (mostly) accurate throw that made the play. It's not like Taylor was wide open. If Daniels waits a split second longer to throw it the defender either gets there or Taylor drifts too far to the sideline to get into the endzone. It's not easy to make a accurate throw on the run. Daniel's did it.
He's had his moments of frustration this season, but more often than not he has been big in clutch spots. Everyone forgets it because of the way the game ended, but he was great on that 99 yard drive to tie the FSU game. In this game he answered every Bama score to give them the lead with one allowing LSU to take back the lead. And his decision making was clutch. In the first half I though he was TOO reluctant to run. In second half he didn't hesitate. If Alabama gave him an inch he took it.

Who is Dan Mullen
A former college coach at Florida. The real question is who the hell is LSUHSV?

I noticed during the game Jayden's decision making appeared to be just quick enough. Any slower and the bama defense would have bottled him up. My point is he has room to improve. If his decision making is a quarter or half second quicker he can really, and I mean really up his game.
The nice thing about getting out of the bama game with a win is bama's defense should force Jayden to speed up his processing/decision making. Bama is the best defense he faced this season and hopefully prepares him for a really good UGA defense at the SEC Championship game.

I thought it was funny that Marcus Spears knew it was going to Mason as soon as he saw the set.
Thought the video of Marcus was pretty great!
Can yall link that video?

Not easy to do near the endzones either, especially with the crowd we had Saturday night

TE package but 5 threw it and the rest is history. Great chess move by Kelly.

LSU had multiple chances to catch Alabama with 12 on the field too. Both before the TO and after the TO. Of course I wouldn't have been surprised if Bama had magically called a timeout had LSU snapped the ball with 12 defenders on the field.

I was glad we didn’t hike the ball with Bama having 12 men on the field.. Bama was already confused in what defense or coverage they were going to run with the 12th defender running off the field..if we hike the ball we move it roughly 1 yard closer to the goal line but then we have to run a secondary 2 point play and give Bama a chance to set up a defense.. just glad it all worked out for the Tigers..

Didn't the Bucs call the same play yesterday for the win?

Watch the Dan Mullen breakdown on college football final. He explains it so perfectly.

Changing the formation out of the time out was a subtle but genius move.
I think when they saw Bama was going big with that personnel they called time out to change the formation to spread them out a little more.

That is asking a lot for a college defense.
That's asking a lot for any defense to switch that aft

Pretty sure it was set up for Daniels to run it in if the CB went wide and covered the TE.
Yep.
They couldn't have stopped him either.

I don’t claim to know more than a former college coach.
