Considering Woodward probably knew Paul M was retiring at least 6 weeks, if not months ago, what is taking so long? No reason not to hire McDonnell right now if he is the guy. In the meantime, LSU has other coaches making public statements that they do not want any further consideration.

Agree its impressive in a far inferior league. But it is simply no comparison to the guy we missed on who had also had a disappointing 2021 season but nothing like the Louisville 2021 season:

Kevin O'Sullivan

2017 National Champions
.681 Winning Percentage Ranks 4th Among Active Division I Coaches (min. 10 DI seasons)
NCAA College World Series Appearances – 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018
SEC Champions – 2010, 2011, 2014, 2017, 2018
SEC Tournament Champions – 2011, 2015
SEC Eastern Division Champions – 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2017, 2018

You are right, the stupidity not to do everything we could to get O'Sullivan is baffling. LSU completely bungled the process or he would be in purple and gold. Sad for the program.

And how many different teams from that league have made CWS appearances? It's about league not a couple of top heavy programs. Are you insinuating the ACC is as good as the SEC from top to bottom?

Far inferior is an asinine assumption

I think you just answered your own question. Woodward hasn’t been able to close the deal with 2-3 guys so far. Which is no fault of his own, btw.

I'm listening for the league comparison or are you just going to spout off without reference to anything?

Top to bottom it is not close.

I mean, to say McDonnell is “no comparison” is a really bad take.

• Overall Record: 618-244 (.717 winning percentage) in 14 seasons
• Closed 2020 ranked 2nd nationally among active coaches in winning percentage (minimum 5 years)
• Two-time National Coach of the Year (2017 Baseball America, 2007 Rivals)
• Three-Time ACC Coach of the Year (2015, 2016, 2017)
• Cardinals rank 1st nationally in wins (618) from 2007-20
• Five College World Series appearances (2007, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2019)
• 12 NCAA Regional appearances
• 8 NCAA Super Regional appearances
• 10 conference championships (2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019)

Sometimes you just have to Will it to happen. Like a Bertman coached Tiger Baseball team.

So that’s what I’m doing. I’m gonna Will the fricker to come here.

In the past 10 years, 7 different ACC teams have made an appearance in Omaha. Hardly inferior.

and in the Big East and American since the majority of the success came in those leagues?

Just saying the way O'Sullivan has done it and the routes he had to take to do it are far more difficult that what Louisville has had to go through.

Thats true, but from a resources and recruiting perspective, LSU and Florida are similar.

McDonnell has built that program from ashes and wins at a .700 clip with recruiting classes ranked in the 20's.
