Dan McDonnell is a damn good coach

Posted this in the flight tracker thread, but thought it deserved it's own topic
If McDonnell were to leave and go to LSU, y'all are getting a damn good coach. Before he arrived in Louisville, the program has only bene to ONE Regional in it's history. Since McDonnell took over he has taken us to 5 CWS appearances. Something we never dreamed was possible. He helped improve facilities and has fans at Louisville extremely excited about College Baseball. He is one of the classiest guys you will EVER come across and LSU would be lucky to have him. Selfishly of course, I hope he stays a Cardinal (nothing against you guys). Below are some of his records....
2007 Louisville 47–24 overall (19-8, 3rd in Big East) College World Series
2008 Louisville 41–21 overall (16–11, 4th in Big East) NCAA Regional
2009 Louisville 47-18 overall (19-7, 1st in Big East) NCAA Super Regional
2010 Louisville 50-14 overall (21-6, 1st in Big East) NCAA Regional
2011 Louisville 32-29 overall (14-13, tied 4th in Big East)
2012 Louisville 41-22 overall (18-9, 1st in Big East) NCAA Regional
2013 Louisville 51-14 overall (20-4, 1st in Big East) College World Series
2014 Louisville 50-17 overall (19-5, 1st in American Athletic Conference) College World Series
2015 Louisville 47-18 overall (25-5, 1st in ACC) NCAA Super Regional
2016 Louisville 50-14 (22-8, 1st in ACC) NCAA Super Regional
2017 Louisville 52-10 (23-6, 1st in ACC) College World Series
2018 Louisville 45-19 (18-12, 3rd in ACC) NCAA Super Regional
2019 Louisville 43-15 (21-9, 1st in ACC) College World Series
2020 Louisville 13-4 Season ended due to COVID
2021 Louisville 28-22 (16-16 in ACC)
2021 was no doubt a disappointment, but injuries to a number of our pitchers really took a toll. We have really dominated the ACC overall since our debut in 2015. Minus this season of course. 2021 was the first season Louisville had been swept in a ACC series.

What’s the general consensus from UL fans? Does he stay or come to LSU?

This is excellent to hear from his current fanbase.

Honestly from the ones I talk to...nobody really knows. Most though have said if LSU comes calling it would be hard for him to pass that up. I can't blame him if he decides to leave for a job of that magnitude

Appreciate the info brother!

Thanks for attempting to explain this seasons issue for louisville, hopefully it will address the concerns of the 2-3 posters here who are worried about it. I heard that stat of not getting swept in the acc a little earlier this year, that blew my mind

People have said it before but I'll repeat: don't make important decisions based on anything that happened during covid.
DM is an amazing coach, he is the clear home run hire at this point. Consistent winner at a northern, basketball school. And they had a lot going on this year that affected their season.

And they were still on the bubble, and before their covid situation, were like 14-6 in conference i believe

He lost a game. Don’t want him.

The same thing happened to Pitt, too. From top 15 to out of the postseason.
I want DM so bad, man. With A&M hiring Schloss, DM is the homerun, keep up with the Joneses hire...unless it's Corbin, which I don't think is realistic.

He’s the guy I’ve wanted all along. Hopefully this Casey stuff was a smoke screen to keep them off of the trail.

If he’s not LSU’s guy, I hope you get to enjoy him at UL for years to come!

Thanks for bringing this here. As you probably know, college baseball is very popular in the state of Louisiana. Before this coaching search even started LSU fans were well aware of what McDonnell has done at Louisville. It's impressive from any fan seat.
He's been my number one the entire time. Yes, even over Corbin. Corbin has a built-in recruiting advantage. As far as Dan goes, nobody has done more with less and it's not even arguable. That's how you isolate the abilities of a coach when projecting success at a new place.
1. McDonnell

2. Godwin
3. Vitello
I would be happy with any of these guys
