Anyone think that he was promised the OC job in the future?

Craig is a better football mind than people think. He'd need someone to lean on early but his background with pro style player, Jimbo Fisher's protege and Gus Malzahn's spread will make him an interesting OC candidate

I think he could end up being a very solid OC. The guy is really intelligent, has experience playing under different systems (and damn well), and experience coaching under a variety of systems (Jimbo/Gus).

He is also a big time “player’s coach” and recruiter. The kids love to play hard for him.

I think he could spend a couple years coaching WRs, QBs, and being a passing game coordinator under Cameron, then take over. I really wouldn’t mind that, especially with the way Les delivers a framework of offense for his OCs the work under.

But no, I don't think he was promised that role. Maybe "passing game coordinator/WR coach/QB coach" combination though.

Only at LSU, and only on the Rant, would the hiring of a wide receiver coach be such a big deal and blown so out of proportion.

I didn't say he "would", I said he "could". As in, he would have the skillset and experience to do so after a few years.

Where do you people learn to read?

You should see how hard Auburn is melting over it. Craig is a big time assistant coach. Top 5 recruiter in the country.

I see...so not only is he going to coach WR's, he is also going to coordinate the passing game and work with the QB's. Is he going to sell popcorn too?

Well, working with WR’s essentially means you are working on the passing game and he has been both a successful QB and QB coach before in high level college football. He had the title of Co-OC at Auburn and recruited and coached Jameis Winston at FSU. If you think he’ll work in a silo of just WR’s and never help with passing game or QBs at all during months and months of practice or on sidelines during the games, then that’s, like, your opinion, man.

I believe that something other than money lured him here. JMHO

Cam will have to be fired to leave

Assistant are rarely provided promotions when their superiors are fired

Craig is just fattening his resume by working under a respected coordinator.

No. But we were promised people would use halfway descriptive subject lines that would - you know - actually indicate the substance of their post.

Got to be something. Our WR coach was making around $200k less than he was at auburn. I don't care how much you hate your boss, you don't take that kind of pay cut and I don't see LSU shelling out half a mil just to be WR coach.

Please put a question mark behind OC in your title. It's misleading. TIA
