oh, you will never get an argument out of me .. CHS isn't a hoops hotbed at all ... redemptorist was an animal in high school hoops in the late 70s and early 80s ... but they still couldn't beat peabody in the top 24 ..

while bringing in Top Ten National Level talent i.e.

Rudy Macklin- Kentucky
John Williams- California
Shaq- Texas

just off the top of my head...3 players from out of state that were better than anything LA had to offer

is TJ doing that?

How about Kenny Higgs I believe he was brought in after Dale's third season. LSU's program was in alot worse shape when Dale took over than when TJ took over! There were no Marcus Thornton's or Tasmin Mitchell's on those rosters!

of the last three coaches in LSU hoops history, john brady did leave the program in better shape than he found it in to some degree ... dale actually had some good players when he first got here .. his first team upset a memphis state team that wound up playing UCLA for the national championship that year in brown's first ever home game ... kenny higgs was his first high-profile recruit and he then led to getting rudy macklin ..

eta: dale did inherit apple sanders, collis temple, bill newton, and bill whittle .. college hoops was a little different back then, but these weren't horrible players ..

i thought curry came here too .. didn't brown hire his high school coach -- gary duhe ?

Pretty sure Duhe came with Derrick Taylor ... I think he was brought in as a Grad Assistant initially.

it is pretty obvious, based on your avatar, where your loyalties lie here .. i worked in the athletic department in a department that would be privy to the entire lester earl fiasco while the whole thing was going down and while dale brown was sliding ..

Are you done trying to make yourself sound important? Let's see..you know where my loyalties are, based on an Avatar pic. And you worked in the A.D. department, coincidentally, during the Lester Earl months at LSU? Interesting that loyalties are so completely anti-Dale Brown. Just out of curiosity, how many people work in the AD at LSU?

He did go to LSU as a grad assistant but it was the 83-84 season with Tom Curry! Derrick was a freshman on the 81-82 team.

Tom Curry went to Marshall after commiting to LSU following a former LSU assistant Rick Huckabay
Karl Malone went to La Tech

For the most part, this looks more like a list of poorly recognized LA talent that NO ONE recognized. It's not like these guys ended up at Indiana, or UNC, or UCLA, or Kansas instead of LSU...

Benjamin could have gone ANYWHERE.

It's hard to beat Creighton out for a recruit when the recruit's mom is sleeping with the Creighton coach (Willis Reed).

Also, some more former Louisiana/NBA players that didn't play for Dale Brown for whatever reason.

The Natt bros, Calvin & Kenny
John Rudd

Anyone know why Brown recruited so many Eastern European players in his last years? Where would he find guys like Misha Mutavich and Roman Rubchenko?

Through his travels, Daddy Dale made lots of friends with those foreign coaches. I really can't remember any of those foreign players being all that good, unless I'm completely overlooking one of them and I'm not counting Shaq.

Australian Eddie Palubinskas(sp) was decent...We almost had Tito Horford & Hernan Montenegro. They would've been good players.

we've given Trent time... he didn't inherit near the mess Brady did. I just really don't think Trent can do it. He can't recruit or fill the PMAC

I guess Geert was his best foreign player. It seems like he went crazy with the recruitment of foreign players toward the end.
