Dabo Sweeney caught some heat on here but he was right about this

He said that opening game loss against LSU was like an exam, and that LSU got a 65 and Clemson got a 58. Turns out both teams did suck.

He was right.
He is still a whiny bitch though.

The sad thing is that there's no incentive to schedule those games anymore. Texas would be a playoff team this year if they opened with Rice.

Texas would be a playoff team if they would’ve beat Ohio State

Yet he still coaches at Clemson but we got a new coach. Clemson admins got no balls!!!

LSU won the game. That merits a D to you?
Sucks that it was the high point of the season, but it was still a gritty win.
Dabos point wasnt that both teams suck

Dabo has won championships
He’s knows a bad team when he sees one

Correct, but they'd also be a playoff team if they never played that game and scheduled #72. There wouldn't have been a penalty for it.

But they had to play Florida. What's the incentive to play top 25 OOC matchups now? All it can do is hurt you.

Maybe but Texas & Vanderbilt both finished 6-2 in SEC.
Texas would have been the one to get in with a win vs Ohio State
ETA: why did Miami get in? Bc of a non-conference win?

It goes both ways.
Miami and Oklahoma would not be playoff teams without the wins over Michigan and Notre Dame.

Texas, after being emotionally drained from the OSU win, would have lost the following weekend.

Sweeney has always been among the more candid coaches in the game. Sweeney, Kiffen, Sabin, Leech, Gundee always tell it like it is unlike two faces Kelley, Reilly or Myers.

I re-watched that game recently, and the offensive creativity and execution was awesome. I have no idea what happened the rest of the season.
