I am probably missing something obvious, but worst injury I can recall a Tiger suffering during a game is Harvey Williams in 87 Tulane game that cost him 88 year. What is worst injury during a game as LSU player (I know Chris Beard broke his neck in arena after LSU) Thanks

Yes...the pain was so bad for Collins that they had to give him drugs that caused him to have serious side effects, like going into unsuspecting coeds apartments and whipping his package out....

I remember when Chad Jones tried to kill Joe Adams, and almost killed himself.

LINK

Looked bad, but I think they both returned to the game.

One of the Hill's.

Melvin Hill's brother took a shot to his knee during a game in the mid 90s. I don't think he played any football after the hit.

Saw this on his wiki page:

quote:

He was kicked off of the LSU squad before the start of his second season after having been twice arrested for illegally entering dwellings. He claimed he was sleepwalking and had no recollection of entering the girls' rooms.

That'd be my excuse as well

Yeah, I still don't think it should have been a penalty. Though with the proposed new rule, he would be ejected for it.

Wendell Davis is the worst injury I can recall an LSU player getting while in the NFL. He blew out both knees on the same play, effectively ending his career.
quote:

Wendell Davis, Chicago Bears, 1993. Davis destroyed both of his ACLs on one play in Philadelphia in the most notorious moment in the history of the old unsafe turf at Veterans Stadium. Davis, a wide receiver, was running a pass route. He had led the Bears in receiving yards the previous three seasons, accumulating 154 catches for 2,251 yards and 11 touchdowns over that span.

Hodson biting through his tongue against Kentucky was not near the worst, but it was memorable.

That was gruesome. Hodson returned to the game, though, if I'm not mistaken. Had a bunch of stitches (9?) in his tongue.

He should've sued the entity that was responsible for Philly's stadium. You can see where he went up for the ball. it was between the dirt and turf sections that had a replacement turf section inserted since it was Football.

It was so bad and so dangerous that one time a preseason game actually ended up with the head coaches for the teams refusing to play on it. They literally called off the game.

I hope Davis sued the sh!t out of Philly & got something out of it. The old videos of how horrible that field were-much less the player's discussions about how dangerous the surface was-are legion.

Craig Steltz... "He got hit...he got hit so bad."

I remember watching Sam Montgomery's injury in horror. It was difficult to watch him writhe on the field in that much pain. People seem to forget that his entire knee was shredded and destroyed on that play. A friend of mine was an orthopaedic consult that looked at his images...he said Montgomery's knee was the worst he had ever seen.

I recall several players getting downright raped on the field back in the early 90's.

Collins just broke a leg. If you're going to get injured, a bone break with no ligament damage is the best case scenario. the worst injury in recent lsu history, albeit not in a game, was alley broussard. kid was, imo, the best back we've had the last 20 years before the injury, and he was never the same when he came back. he did have issues keeping his weight down, but he still was incapable of being the back he was prior to the injury. but, by and large, all the players who have been knocked out for the season because of torn knee ligaments are more serious injuries than what happened to Collins.
