Yes but once Saban steps on the neck he doesn't like to take his foot off. He always preached about finishing teams off.

If Jarrett Lee shows marked improvement, then I say the problem was Crowton. All of the QB's have said that Kragthorpe has taught them things that they had never been taught under Crowton. If Jarrett Lee is no longer throwing off his back foot and has improved;then, Crowton was the problem. We will know more come Sept. 3rd.

seems like someone with that mentality would be a little more clock savvy . ...

Great example of what we are talking about with Les being conservative and keeping it unnecessarily close, check out the Florida game last year.
We get a turnover with about a minute left up 17-14.
We get 2 quick first downs and get down to the 20 with 40 seconds left. A quick completion to shep for no gain, and instead of calling timeout or running another quick play, we go to the line and hand it off to ridley and take the field goal.
Not guaranteed a TD there, but damn, try.

"Were there parts of that offense that were mine? Yeah. The philosophy that Coach Miles had was to be good on defense, be good on special teams and win it in the fourth quarter," Crowton said. "We won a lot of games in the fourth quarter. We beat Auburn twice in the fourth quarter. What it did is it shortened the game. We didn't have a lot of offensive plays. When you look statistically, it wasn't great, but that wasn't our goal. Our goal was to win games. We won 40 in four years."
the conspiracy theory is now back by former OC. LM truly is a crazy man and tries to, in fact, give every fan a heart attack.

This is what you do when the other team has better talent than you, which isn't the case 9 times out of 10 with LSU.

He's right, moron. Crowton should've been kicked out 2 years ago.

Crowton's record speaks for itself...its been posted here several times...each place he goes the production of the offense goes down with each passing year...
Plain and simple.

Meh some if those ill give to our qbs sucking. Crowton was the qb coach. These kids had talent, crowton wasted it.

I find it interesting that people praise the QB for the 11-2 record last year, but blast the OC at the same time. I don't claim to take sides in this, but one of these two may be more responsible than the other for the 11 wins and I doubt its the one they would pick.
Crowton gets slammed and rightly so on some things, but LSU has been worse, and LSU has been better. I doubt Crowton should receive as much of the blame as some people think he should.

Exactly. Crowton has the same pattern everywhere he goes regardless of who's offense he's ruining.

well i kind of agree with everything all of you have put here.
so....im going to blame CLM for everything since he has been at LSU. all of it is his fault.
i dont think he would mind taking the blame for it either.
62-17

Since his offense always thrived in the first year, we should have fired Crowton at the end of every year and then abruptly re-hired him shortly afterwards.

When you are working with limitations at the QB slot and coming off a poor team effort as with the Vol game, I can understand being conservative and being as sure as possible to leave the field at half with the points rather than risking a throw to the endzone that might be picked and give the Gators the Mo at home.

quote:The problem with GC is there's no reasoning in his play calling.
It seems he thinks since he has 85 calls on the play sheet, all 85 have to be called.
He's too busy trying to fool a DC with different looks, instead of creating and attacking weaknesses.
A DC can pretty much just be ready for anything and defend against his playcalling, imo.

And thats why we needed a last second drive with a fake field goal, that was inches from losing us the game, and needing Florida's D to blitz at the right time in order for us to even win that game.

It was his offense when we won the national championship but it was Mile's when we stunk it up.

It was his offense when we had a great QB to run his offense, and it was his offense when he didn't have a great QB to run it, and he still tried to fit a square peg into a round hole and make it work.
