Cowan hasn’t been the best reliever for 3 weeks.

Cowan saved their arse a ton in sec play. Ever since around bama he struggled. And it’s more than clear.

One of the main reasons this team won’t make it far in the post season!

I can see giving him a shot in the 8th but he never should have been out there in the 9th

Jay putting in his best relief pitcher is not playing analytics
We are royally F’d if Cowan is our #1 reliever. If you aren’t starting Evans this week he should have pitched the 9th.

Mainly because Jay has no feel for his pitching

Should have been pulled with bases empty and one out in the 9th.
He was and has been getting rocked. All you had to do there was avoid the solo HR.

Who replaces him?

Teams have adjusted to his changeup and are sitting on it.
Also swinging early. He needs to start throwing close balls early in the count. He has enough command to do that.

Yeah. He’s very overrated. Got baseball luck early in the season, but he’s not that good.
His LAST outing he went 3 innings without allowing a run vs Arkansas

So?

So you fricking hold off on that and throw him an inning today…..the same way it’s worked since baseball was invented!!!

I certainly would be looking for another guy to be a closer at this point.
I’d probably look at Noot or Evan’s to close more games for us.
Cowens may need to move back into a relief role for a minute.

You want to throw a guy coming off 3 days rest after a 90 pitch outing?
