Time to look at firing JJ. Him not seeing that Cowan is a complete liability is unacceptable.

Also, him not having any other pitchers that can throw strikes is unacceptable. Not to mention how incapable the team is at the plate.

I mean Cowan can't be trusted anymore,

Let’s not piss down our legs just yet. Even Skenes had a 3 weekend stretch in 2023 where he looked mortal. If Cowan needs to have that, be glad it’s now and not in the post season.

They don't seem interested at all in pitching Cowan twice in one weekend.

That seems pretty clear to me.

they've used him twice in 3 of the last 4 weekends.

Rizzy. Williams. Anybody but Cowan after we all saw how the 8th went
How many times have you seen a pitcher struggle in his first inning and then cruise? Lot’s of times. It’s not what you want in a closer, but we just don’t have a guy who can reliably close. We thought it was Cowan.

Cowan was the right choice. Moving forward, the one thing I’d do different if I was in CJJ’s shoes, is maybe ride a guy a little more if he has a good outing - like Noot last night. - just to eat innings.

I think holding Evans is the better way. If we can't close out a game leading in the 8th against this team, then we take our lumps. Same logic as using Kade.

Cowan has been on a roll (not in a good way) since A&M. After being hammered in the 8th no manager worth his salt would have marched him back to the mound in the ninth. Totally amateur, bush-league move. What was JJ thinking.

Look I’m not shy about sharing my opinion when I think coaches do or say something dumb, but I don’t really disagree with the move. Cowan has been your best reliever all year long. In order for this team to have a chance to win anything he is going to have to perform. You trust him to be able to do that against a team that isn’t very good. Cowan needs to be better.

Yep. This was basically Eyanson’s MO for the first month of the season.

I agree. But that wasn’t a situation where we could wait around and find out

Not even close for this situation

Cowan got smashed in the 8th. Wasn’t fooling anybody. Then you let him labor through the whole 9th inning? wtf man

Cowan's Trust Cup is completely full due to his performance all year. You have to have multiple failed "heat checks" before you start to limit his role for you.

He had a hiccup vs A&M and came back strong vs ARK last week. So it's not that black and white that he is not "that guy".

Book is out on Cowan, unfortunately. As good as his change is, fastball can't blow by anyone. Other teams know sit on it

Completely agree.

I just feel in that situation, when you see how hard he’s getting hit in the 8th, you gotta go with a different arm for the 9th. Especially in game one.

Let’s hope. Last time he pitched on the road he got obliterated in game 1 and then Jay tried him again in game 3. Guess what happened.

Cowan is like the offense, he’s worse on the road.

In that situation Cowan was the right move to leave in the game instead of burning another bullpen arm. Cowan has been our best bullpen arm the entire season. Live with the results. Pitching is not the reason we have been losing games. I look for the team to bounce back the next two days.

Cowan hasn’t pitched well in a month.

He went 3 innings, giving up 2 hits and no runs literally last weekend against Arkansas. He pitched well against Tennessee, twice, 3 weekends ago. He had 2 bad outings against A&M and one last night. He's been dominant in every other outing he's had this season
