Could you see Brad Davis as a HC?

Brad Davis has been crushing it in recruiting and has built that group at LSU into a solid spot now and going forward.

He’s from BR. Played at OU and was part of their 2000 national championship team.

If Venables does not work out at OU, could you see them trying to bring Davis in as HC? Might be a big jump for him and OU is very selective on who they hire as HC. But maybe Davis has OC gigs in his future too.

I was hoping if we didn’t talk about it, he could stay on staff forever. Unfortunately you have ruined that.

I'm good at my job cooking fries.

They should make me CEO of the company.

So you’re saying Brad Davis isn’t a critical piece to LSU’s success? Interesting.

I think he is saying he is a great OL coach. But to jump HC is a big leap. Has he ever been an OC?

Major colleges don’t typically hire position coaches as head guys unless there is an interim trial period (Dabo, Coach O, Matt Luke)

But clearly Brad Davis is a rising star in the coaching industry and will have opportunities for advancement when he wants them

Hopefully he is selective and we can keep him a while

He's more likely to get a HC job than an OC job.

Nobody is saying that. Why do you suddenly think he leap from OL coach to HC? Because he can recruit and coach up his unit?

Has it happened? Sure. Sam Pittman is a close example. Does that help you this morning?

So basically if BK gets fired, Davis is our interim

The Patriots just hired Jerod Mayo as their HC and he had 5 total years of coaching experience, only as a linebackers coach for the Patriots, so it's not impossible. But I think it's unlikely.

I think very few P5 schools are taking shots in positions. coaches.

you really need a coach who can lock down one side of the ball and idk if that’s is Davis.

Maybe. but idk

Would need to be a coordinator first.

Oklahoma's last three head coaches were all high level coordinators: Stoops, Riley, Venables.

would be interested in seeing him juggling more responsibilities first. he did enough as interim to keep the kids that remained invested.

he needs to work on his public speaking skills to the media too if he's going to be a figure head

Pittman is a good example of going from Oline to HC but that hasn’t turned out too great for the hogs…

Position to HC is rare, and usually happens if the coach is an assistant/associate HC with more responsibility than a typical position coach. Coordinators are more favorable HC candidates because of their experience managing not only multiple player groups, but also position coaches. A HC who can't lead a group of coaches isn't a very good HC.

We already did - vs KSU. I know just a stop-gap between O and CBK.

Brad is one of the best assistant coaches we've had and a great OL coach. No idea what his long term goals are. Hope they include us.

Some people just never give it a rest. Even for a few weeks.
