Absolutely it could be. This could possibly be our resume' at the end of the year:

-Undefeated and 14-0 for first time ever
-Victories against the three previous national champions and last years runner-up.
-Victories against 9 ranked opponents
-Victories against the PAC-12 Champ, Big East Champ, and Big 12 Champ
-Victory against the greatest team in Alabama football history on the road
-Greatest average margin of victory by any Tiger team ever

If this is our resume, then we could be regarded as one of the 5 greatest college football teams of all time. I put us Top 3 with 2001 Miami and 1995 Nebraska.

I don't think anybody beats that 08 Florida team. That was the best team so far this decade IMO. 09 bama is close too

lsu03 v lsu11 would probably look a lot like the game we just played with bama. 9-6 ish. but between the 2,

qb-wash
rb-11
wr-03
ol-wash
dl-03
lb-wash
dbs-11
sts-11

but it was a different time, different sec. so them and great teams further back all the way to 58 and even 1908, they were some pretty great ones for their time.

we will know in january.....we have maybe five
games left to play . way to early....the back side
of the schedule has always seperated out the great
teams from good lsu teams.

if this team wins sec championship and beats a good stanford or oklahoma team we may say they are
the best;but one slip to arkansas and things
could turn out different.

Your list of acomplishment is exactly why I say this is the best team of my lifetime. It's all about what has been done to this point, this year. Sure we could have a better qb, sure our d could give up fewer yards, our overall stats could be more glistening but folks if you look objectively at what this team has acomplished at this point in the season it's damn impressive and by far more impressive than any other team in LSU history. Of course we need to win an NC to solidify it's place in history but if you compare all previous LSU teams first 10 games none come close to this one in terms of dominance and consistancy!

Yes, this is the best team I've seen. Maybe someone else can comment on 1958/59.

'58 was slightly better than '59 but only a blown call on a 2-point conversion at UT kept the '59 team from making it back to back champs. In that era, the '58 team has to be one of the best college teams of all time. I agree with anothe poster that the once-beaten team in '69 was also a very dominant team. Only a Camesque game by Manning in Oxford prevented them from playing for a piece of the national title. In other words, had they been undefeated the Cotton Bowl would not have dumped them in favor of ND. I do think that '03 and '06 had the most talent of any LSU teams, followed closely by '07. IF this team can win out, I would have to give them the best ever moniker.

I am an old fart (59). I have been an avid LSU fan for 50 years or so that I can actually remember. This may very well be, the best LSU team I have ever seen. Overall. If you add up the offense, defense AND special teams, I think it might be.
More ball yet to be played. However, this team beat Auburn and Florida by historic margins. It beat what Bama folks were touting as perhaps their best team ever, and it beat them in their house. It's one "damn strong football team." If it goes undefeated, it should deservedly go down as LSU's best ever.

. . . . . . and if so, it may actually only retain that title as "best ever" for one year.

While some may be able to argue against this being the best team of all time, our resume will certainly be the BEST of all time if we go 14-0. Find me a team in history that ACCOMPLISHED more than this team will have done and I will eat my shirt.
